The
Castle walls in Europe really weren't as easy to break with early cannons as one might think, for one the powder was very weak compared to the later stuff and the pieces were fairly light, there is however a period in Medieval Europe where it seems we have a lot of evidence of gunpowder weapons being very effective against fortifications, but people quickly compensated simply by reinforcing their walls. What gunpowder was really useful for was mining, if you had enough gunpowder for enough guns to batter down a wall you had enough to build a tunnel and simply blow a hole in it instead, which could be a lot safer since cannons were equally popular as weapons for defending castles and other fortifications as they were for attacking them.
Arguably when it comes down to battering walls with cannons it's the Ottomans who really had it figured out first, though they too would realize that since large cannons are difficult to transport (see the Ottoman Campaign into Europe and Siege of Vienna between 1526-1529 where they were forced to abandon a lot of their guns) simply blowing up the walls with a massive gunpowder charge was probably a better option, and they did use this method on multiple occasions, during the 1529 siege of Vienna, the siege of Candia for instance, the Ottomans of course are widely known for their usage of trenches and mining to take cities and other fortifications.

The mongols also took their cannon and gunpowder across the sea to Java Island in Indonesia. And in Java they're being tricked and back stabbed by a Warlord called Raden Wijaya. Then Raden Wijaya massacre the mongols, using the knowledge of gunpowder and cannon, Raden Wijaya build a new kingdom called Majapahit and rule the entire southeast Asia.

To claim that china invented the father of gunpowder weapons is just plain wrong. What people today call gunpowder weaponry was developed in europe with no input from china. There is a reason why europe started dominating the world after the 15th century and thats not because they used something that others had access to as well

Evolution is interesting and the only reason humans have not been eaten by true carnivores.
First it was pretty then used for defense and now is used for both good and bad but things are neither good nor evil.
Only animals such as man can be both

The chinese also made use of fire arrows; or firework arrows. They used large wood boxes with slots for hundreds of these long arrows, ranged before hand and all shot at the same time; it would rain down thousands of arrows at once on an opposing army.

Medieval fantasy nerds: YOU CAN'T PUT GUNS IN THE SETTING! GUNS NEVER EXISTED IN THE MEDIEVAL ERA! EVEN WITH MAGIC, TECHNOLOGY MUST BE 1: 1 WITH REALITY!
Reality: Medieval Europe has guns, and has had them since at least the 12th century AD.

I don't think anyone believes that guns and gunpowder were not invented in China not sure why you are so heavily in for sizing that point at the end. I have never heard anyone claim that guns or gunpowder originated in Europe.

No such thing as a wall a cannon can't break. It just takes a really long time.
Always did, just in the movies they skip the week or so it took to breech a wall. Standards of the time though, that was a fast way to end a siege.

If the Chinese invented the gun why didnt China have guns when they were taken over by Europeans?
They couldnt even replicate guns when they were introduced to them, they had to be taught how to make the by European gunsmiths.

wow so it turns out the further development of firearms in Europe is completely based on the context:
enemies weren't mobile Mongols, and fortress walls were thinner!

Eureka! I invented gunpowder!
Gunpowder? What's that?
It's _powder_ for a gun.
Ah, okay. What's a gun?
I don't know. I haven't invented that yet.
