This reminds me of a nursery story that my parents and grandparents would tell me until I fall asleep. I don't know how long this story has been around for, but many people seem to know the same story. it goes as follows (I'll try my best to put it in English):
Once upon a time, there was a mountain,
and on that mountain, there was a temple
in that temple, lived two monks
the younger monk asked the older monk:
-Please tell me a story? -
and so the older monk said:
Once upon a time, there was a mountain.

wait he taught at my mom's university? i am not surprised tbh because nanjing u was one of those very influential schools and produced lots of english texts and dictionaries used in china today, but man, didn't expect this!
( we are a family of engineers, i am studying CS but man do i love math. and klein bottles now) Sending my best regard to Cliff! If i ever get to meet this guy, imagine the stories he would tell on a cup of Droste)

I grew up in Nanjing, China. My family spent a lot of weekends on the Purple Mountain (Zi Jin Shan, and we passed by the observatory so many times. I already love this guy like my grandpa (who was also into Math, now I love him more.
