The problem is that a lot of people are at the mercy of, and under the totally dependent control of, parents and relatives that are wildly insecure and toxic people. The second you start proving to them that you’re better at anything than they are, they start punching and dragging you back down until you don’t want to even try to outgrow them. Because, to outgrow them would give you the freedom to either abandon them or call them out someday. And, they can’t have that. Because, the real thing they’re most afraid of is having to look at their own behavior in a mirror.

For the past few months, i've been focusing more on self-love and improving.
Been exercising regularly, learning a new language and learning to play the piano.
It dramatically improved my daily life and the way i view myself.
Even though, i still struggle with self-confidence when making new friends and meeting new people, i feel a gradual progress on. my self-love habits.

I love myself but I've had so much happen to me I don't think I'll ever be truly happy. It feels like if I expect anything good to happen to me it always goes bad. So now I feel like I want my wife and kids to be happy and my life is just focussed on that. I does make me very sad if I think about it because I think I deserve so much more. But I feel more and more helpless each year.

I appreciate you guys releasing another video to help further more people towards balance within their lives. I myself like many others I try my best to just live my best life. And I find self-care and self-love is an important part of that. Important reminder for the busybodys is you can't fix anything with a broken tool, that's why it's important to take care

Negative self-talk can certainly make it difficult for people to to exhibit self-love, and it can be hard to break that habit. But if we wouldn't want others to say harsh things to us, we definitely shouldn't say it to ourselves. It's ok to show compassion to oneself. We're all worth it.

My therapist had to redefine "selfish" with "self-regarding" for me. My ex made me feel like almost ANY action I did for myself was selfish. At the end I was extremely worried I was somehow hurting everyone around me and a narcissist.
Luckily my therapist has helped me a lot.

I'm going to bed on time and doing the things i plan on doing. That's the way i practice self-love. It gives me a sense of self-respect. Waking up on time is critical in time management. There are a lot of things i lacked growing up, I'm trying to make up for that

This topic was making me stop self-improving. the overwhelming fear of being judged and called selfish, because people tend to judge others quickly, even if I am just trying to love myself. Now. I can think more positive, thanks to you, Psych2Go!

It could be challenging to know the difference between self-love and Selfishness. And the problem is not just the person's point of view, but to also what people or society think about the person, in their own point of view.

I’ve been enjoying the Andy Grammer song, Damn It Feels Good To Be Me lately. I can finally say that I am comfortable with who I am after 40 years of flying around the sun on this fine fine pebble we call Earth.

It took me until my 50s to learn how to love myself and treat myself with respect. My parents were narcissists and I had low self esteem due to how they treated me, and had no boundaries.

Some ways I practice self love are exercising, eating healthy, and distancing myself from people who put me down for social validation.

Many people told me that I am selfish because I loved myself. I realised long ago it was just self love but still I had doubts.
