The notch should not be considered a -feature-, as it just makes it harder to program things that can display well on both notch-less phones and phones with notches. It kind of just gets in the way most of the time and although it usually does have a good purpose, there are other ways around it. I can understand the iPhone X having a notch as it serves a larger purpose than just a camera, but most notches just have a camera, proximity sensor, and an earpiece / second speaker. One good idea that was executed well by Vivo, is the pop out sliding camera that is both very durable and has a fair amount of safety precautions. However, the Oppo Find X did a very bad job with it. their design had a much larger sliding part, and it was incredibly easy to break and bend. You can find JerryRigEverything do a good video on this. This sliding camera idea, if executed well, would be a good step in the right direction to get to the bezel-less phone design. I'm not saying there aren't better ways to do it, I'm just saying that this way works well for now and it doesn't involve much (if any) experimentation and inventing to pull off.

Im a neutral party here, but its a fact that apple has been a trendsetter for a long time. Yes apple has almost never been the first at anything, but when they do, other companies follow because they know thats what the average non tech savy consumers want. Remember when phones didnt have a fingerprint scanner? Oh hello iphone 5s. Remember when phones didnt have dual cameras? Oh hello iphone 7+. Remember when phones didnt have notches and vertical dual cameras? Hello iphone 10. Lets take that first example, yes I know iphone 5s wasnt the first phone with a fingerprint scanner, but lets be honest, most people probably dont know the first phone with a fingerprint scanner yet more people probably can answer if they were asked which iphone was first to implement a fingerprint scanner.

To all those hating because Apple didn't do any of these things first, I think you're missing what she's actually trying to say. Apple's adoption of tech sets the tone for what consumers will accept and sets a guideline for how other manufacturers should market those features. Dual cameras, fingerprint access, edge to edge, adjustable aperture after the fact, and AR all existed long before Apple chose to adopt it. But Apple's adoption of these things (for better and worse) sets those features as Mainstays in the market, rather than experimental

I think people are not understanding the message of this video, it is pretty clear that the purpose of the video is not to state that apple innovates with every new feature and then gets copied by other manufacturers. Of course there were previous gesture based navigation and FaceIDs before iPhone X, but this video states that after Apple iPhone releases, the whole industry changes. You cannot point FaceID and say that, X company changed the smartphone industry by having that feature 3 years ago, if it was not adopted by the whole industry.

Apple is so technology appropriating- android does something years in advance Apple comes along and makes it mainstream and doesn-t give credit where it-s due. a bit like Kim k with her -boxer braids- or black girls with naturally big assets then then fake tiddied white girl and it-s popular all of a sudden. I dunno why I followed the apple trend can-t wait to go back to Samsung.

Props BBK brands who tries to innovate and trying to go against the grain. And props to Samsung as well for not seriously getting hyphy with the notch. And of course Apple fans will just accept the notch due to they don't have a choice and plus they are so fully into the Apple ecosystem. Now I am not saying that's a bad thing that's just very human nature.

You keep trying to argue that Apple sets the standard in design, but for every example you give, you note one or more other phones that did it first, Samsung (the largest and most powerful cell phone company in the world) often beating Apple by several years. In reality, you just made a very good case for how Apple hasn't ever had a single good idea.

What's up with people with big glass and dorky design? Is it a nice looking fashion or some tends, is it becuase it somehow represent cuteness? If I ever wore a glass it'd be simple, light and not something that'd make me look like something that came out of some sketch made by 2 years old.

Obviously no one watched the video or read the description? The video made it clear that Apple-s not the first (giving the example of Essential for the notch, rather it is about the phenomena of the market in general following only when Apple does it.

3: 22 I'm pretty sure Animojis rely only on the front camera and -not- on other sensors (Marques Brownlee showed it covering the sensors in a video, therefore there's no reason why the iPhone 8 shouldn't have it. It's just misleading advertising. ew
