Rating: 4.0; Vote: 1
Dr. Janja Lalich, a sociologist who was formerly a part of a left-wing cult, talks about the cult-like nature of many online conspiracy theory groups. It's interesting to see that despite other, left-leaning online movements definitely fitting the bill as -cult-like- as per these definitions, Dr. Lalich and the WIRED production team focus on right-wingers. Unfortunately, the way Dr. Lalich has framed this argument, anyone who disagrees with her message could be experiencing -cognitive dissonance, - and thus, isn't in a state of mind sound enough to be seriously considered, which is eerily similar to the -need for transcendent belief; - anyone who disagrees is not worthy. Reading over most online responses to anyone who hesitates to get the vaccine ratifies that -systems of control- is definitely taking place. Heck, even Dr. Lalich is speaking in similar patterns! System of influence is evident, again, in any sort of hesitation one might have towards the vaccine. If you have doubts, you MUST not care about anyone other than yourself! You MUST be anti-science! You MUST be prone to experience cognitive dissonance! I've read many people pro vaccine even wish death upon those who disagree. Charismatic leader? Well, I mean, this is the internet. Even Dr. Lalich and WIRED could be one of these leaders.
As per the four parameters Dr. Lalich shared, lots of elements fall under cult category, and the fact that in this video, WIRED refused to explore groups like Antifa, Black Lives Matter, or the Sunrise Movement as anything cult-related tells me they have cult-like mentalities as well.

In case no one caught on. this video is cult indoctrination parading itself as an objective informational video on cults.
Almost all the cut scenes go one way. They use association fallacy by showing you these scenes while telling you what to think about them. Yet they never make a definitive link between the 4 indicators and what they are showing in the cut scenes. Or any link at all really. They just keep showing the same scenes and expect you to make the leap -yeah, those people are like cult members. -
Most ironic of all, this video ignored the biggest system of control and influence of all - Big Tech banning everything they don't agree with. Biased MSM intentionally burying information and stories that go against their narrative. Crazy right? Wonder why they never mentioned that? It is the largest and most obvious example of cult control.
All things considered, this video is projection - a hallmark of leftism.

I am a guy who don't judge anyone for that they believe in. But as soon as you harm another being or do harm in a way that is not in a way to protect the weak and innocent and those who had no part in it is where I draw the line. If I was a leader of a group that believed in something my number one rule of all is don't harm people for our own benefit to make a change/difference If this is witnessed by me I would have the authorities on scene to take them off the premises immediately. Not only will it damage our groups imagine but it makes us to the world look bad. Plus bad misinformation is another rule that is not permitted either keep info real. Not fake.

This video would-ve been good if it showed cultists on both sides of the spectrum, but like typical left-wing garbage, it only shows right wing cultists. What about Antifa or the Women-s March, or the BLM activists who crashed speaking events and hijacked microphones? What about pro-vax cults who practically worship Dr. Fauci?
This ex-cultist herself states in this video that cults exist on both sides, but this media outlet only portrays right wingers as cultists, and they lead their viewers to associate any conservative with Q Anon or Westboro. I had never even heard of Q Anon before a coworker asked me if I was part of it.

I love how the media is trying to taint the truth about mandatory vaccine by calling truthseekers or people who want to analize the situation the same as -cult victims- and dogmatists.
Lady, its my choice whether i want to get a vaccine or not, and that it's not at all your concern!
Dont you think you can discredit free thought of society by stigmatising us as people without identity, im no part of a cult but i know my human rights and i know that my body is my property and i decide whether i get medical treatment and no other entity has the right to violate my body!
THIS IS NOT OPEN TO DEBATE, IT IS A HUMAN RIGHT!

I believe we have been witnessing the battle of cults. the mask cult, the distance cult, and the needle cult, along with the -we will tell you when and where you can go out- cult.
I feel this video unfairly portrays (via editing of Wired) the cult-ish side of people-s anger fueled by their rights being trodden on.
I appreciate these videos on cults by Wired. Thank You. Simply wish it wasn-t overly politicized in the editing.

It's funny that this mentions Qanon, it is spot on with the belief system. I see that also with the other side. This is what is causing this huge division. Two opposing, very strong views and beliefs have come up out of the graves. Qanon is smaller than the current cult going on. I am not involved in either one of them. Many people like myself are just watching both sides go at it which is just creating bigger division

I have relatives who follow Q and similar toxic cult groups. Want to know if sharing educational videos like this would reflect reality to them or would it make them get more entrenched in their beliefs? Should I try to leave them alone and let them feel their own doubts organically as time moves on or should I not take any chances and be trying to explain how their ideology is toxic and based on illusions?

I grew up with my mom dabbling in all kinds of esoteric stuff, sometimes going to India to some guru or some faith healer wasting lots of money. I had this big moment as a pre teen when I realized the stuff my mom told me is incompatible with objective, observable reality. I felt extremely betrayed and insecure about what is real, I ended up studying physics.

Social Media is a cult. The left has gone crazy with cult like behavior. The right still has it's certain groups of cult like behavior as well. the cult is strong in 2022. The difference between the right wing cults and the left wing is that I find the RW cults just batsh-t insane, but the current LW cults I find to be far more insidious and devious.
