An overview of more than a century of investigations into police brutality and systemic racism Richard: i enjoy the videos and the current coverage on BF buuuuut this is a low blow. They take old, I mean ancient forms of racism, and are trying to push the defunding of the police as the only option. Reform, with current technologies would be best. They didn't go over other countries that have no policing bodies and how corrupt the militaristic entities are in those areas. Reform, in this day and age, would be amazing. Think of restructuring how long an officer works, if high stress is an issue, then, like the military, start making deployments with reasonable down time in between. Having them go to an area they did not grow up in will take what ever bias they have away (In terms of LA officers repping one side or the other) They did away with the choke hold, the entire reason it was implemented was to prevent having to strike someone to have them comply. They complain about physical endurance and combative training being on the back burner? Then bring it to the forefront. Have officers be required to maintain fitness, as part of their daily routine. Have officers practice a million times how to disarm, but with non lethal intent. I studied Judo and BJJ, while BJJ is more effective in a hand to hand combat situation, studying the ideals of Judo (Referenced as The Gentle Way) will help put boiling heads at ease. I work at the airport and someones luggage fell down the escalator and 3 officers rushed to see if anyone was hurt. One had a hand on their weapon and as I was explaining that I didnt hear anyone get hurt, they were rattled and mocked me, clearly on high alert. The ability to stay calm is trained, I personally feel more at home in gunfire than I do in a classroom, these officers could learn to stay calm, move with a sense of urgency and not full cocked. One of the many things that needs to be worked on. I am passionate, I understand there are experts on the subject that prove me wrong, this is an expression of my feelings, and will not be silenced. As Buzzfeed has a right to make a video, I have a right to comment, even if every single one of you feel it is a ridiculous or idiotic comment. Love to all, and to all a safe time

Its not that it wont work. Yall just dont want to put in the work necessary to change it. Stop trying to make it seem like the police have changed. They are just as uneducated and overturned as they have always been. Stop making excuses. Tbh the whole government need an update. This entire video was about white people the decision for what the police wouldnt be. If police are reformed it needs to be with everyone in mind and not just to give white people more power. All of us live here so all of us should play a roll in what the police become

What are these drivel comments. people USA needs an injection of serious education. the reaosn why said reforms might not work is because this isn't just a police problem. This is a society problem! USA has been systemically eroded intellectually through the media and its political party agendas. the worst is that the propaganda has made so many simpeltons believe that left/cheaper healthcare and education would be the end of America as we know it.

Mike Brown wasn't laying there bleeding out he was shot in the head. He was a criminal that had just strong arm robbed a convenient store. And when he was approached by the police officer he started to attack him. Mike Brown was 6'4 280lbs and charging the officer when he was shot. If you care to actually read the real coroners report. Quit lumping him in with real victims.

The police should go on strike and let you people who is in support of defunding or the abolishing of the police experience a world where you have no one to call for help. Some of those killings were the result of poor training and most were justified.
Floyd death: poor training or personal grudge
Rayshard death: justified shooting.

Defunding the police is our only option. This entire country was built off of racism and police arent held accountable for their actions; ie. murder. By defunding the police, we use the funds towards the communities that need it, which help prevent actual crime. Police show up to situations they arent even needed in.

Say systemic/systematic again. I'm sure the 35th time will finally change something and make your points valid. You live in 2020, genius. Where the people that care most about race ARE YOU. Your inability to move on from the past has lead to wide spread self imposed failure.

When it's a white cop and a black victim its racism.
When it's a black cop and a black victim its police brutality.
when people hear police brutality many automatically think white cop.
When it's a black cop and white victim it's never mentioned.

No one should listen to buzz feed as there arent a true professional career nor they never experienced anything outside of there own office building if they did I want them to actually go to each establishment instead of writing some bs story like this one

Very simple- privatize the police. Its the only way to have accountability. Get the unions out, get community-centric police that view the citizens as people in their care rather than as some kind of enemy solider.
