Why Getting An Autism Diagnosis Is So Hard For Women Bella: The rare case here: I'm a girl who was diagnosed before I was 4. However, I do get the whole masking thing cause most people are like oh, I couldn't tell; you must be really high-functioning and then they get confused by my idiosyncrasies like not being able to clap to a beat, not get their sarcasm (especially over text or when they don't over-exaggerate their tone, being bad on the phone, etc. When it comes to masking as well, people often forget that I'm Autistic because I've been masking for so long or because I'm able to mask better than I used to; so whenever I don't act the way people want me to they get upset at me, and I can't say I did it wrong because I didn't understand what you wanted cause I'm Autistic because they'd just say I'm using it as a cover or they would just get madder at me. In short, they expect me to be normal because they perceive me as 'high-functioning'. Also, I can be very anti-social or very social depending on my environment, mood, the event, and the people I'm with.

Yes finally someone gets it only I don t know if I m masking or if it s the pressure of my parents telling what to do and not to do in social situations and they get extremely mad at me if I don t do what they say like they talk to just about anyone about my health problems but if I do I m just going to scare them away I m also high functioning and they control every aspect of my life how I dress what to say how to literally move my face when my expressions change they tell me to be myself and then tell me not to be an embarrassment. I got diagnosed at 13 but they suspect I was born with it

I didn't get diagnosed until I was 18. My mom wanted to have me tested when I was 8. But my psychiatrist didn't think I was on the spectrum. My mom used to be a psychologist and she recognized the symptoms. My psychiatrist who saw me once a month for an hour believed that my mom didn't know what she was talking about. Even though my mom was around me far more than my doctor was.

I was diagnosed last year at 23 and work with an autistic colleague he was diagnosed two years ago
He agreed that girls are way better at masking
Masking is honestly exhausting
Seen this tik tok a few times and I agree I need to try to stop masking (it's not easy)

When I went to get a diagnosis i showed all the traits but in her opinion she didn t want to diagnose me cause I was too social and wanted friends. I Had all the struggles and traits but it was her opinion that stoped me from getting to accommodations I need

I'm a guy and I have Asperger's and I absolutely hate it! I hate how I can't pick up on social cues that normal people would pick up on and thus I come off as creepy and girls for example stay away from me. It's just I don't know how to go about it.

I know you list her in the video description but y'all should have listed her at the start of the video. And producer? What did they produce? Paige did the work. All you did is run the parts together.

Now you turn to use other people's content and monetizing it. No wonder why everyone leaves buzzfeed. Hope you paid her something and got her permition to share her videos, at the very least
