And then they had to completely plummet with Skylanders. I did give it a chance cause I thought the concept and characters were interesting, but when I finally saw what they did to Spyro's design, I got rid of it. I was already sort of on the fence about the gameplay at that point anyway, that just sort of tipped the scale for me
I absolutely love Reignited though, huge nostalgia trip for me. There were a few nitpicks with voice direction, mostly from Elora and the Sorceress, but easily forgivable with how close they remained to the original script

Spyro on the PS1 was my first console game as a kid. It was a big step up from playing my dad's old text games, SimCity, and side scrollers (Duke Nukem, The Lion King, Trolls) via floppy on PC. The first three will always have a special place in my heart. I followed Spyro to GBA, but the new format was confusing and I had a hard time figuring out what layer I was on when making jumps and glides. I didn't get to try again until the Legend of the Dragon series and by then it was a completely different game. The combat using wii controllers was fiendishly difficult to get to register correctly (not unlike Okami) and I gave up out of frustration. I'm glad Skylander Academy at least gave Spyro his personality back, but I hate that he looks more like a purple toad now. I am very grateful for the remaster, even if some of the artistic interpretation is a lot different than what I imagined as a kid. It does stay true to the style and personality of the first three.

I said this on the Crash video and I'm gonna say it here too. I would love it if they remade all of the OTHER games in the series as well and released them. I don't think many people got the chance to play many of them. I think a lot of that was due to them being exclusive on non PS platforms. I think the last game I played was Enter the Dragonfly. I didn't even know some of these had existed. I think it'd be a fun way for people who didn't get to play them before to play them now. I mean, with the success of the Crash remake, the Spyro remake, and the CTR remake, it shows there's definitely an audience for these games. Hell even the TY remake was exciting to people last year. Get it done TFB!
I've played the CTR remake, and the Spyro remake and am currently playing the N Sane trilogy and I'd love a chance to play some of these other games remade as well.

I've been playing Spyro with my 5yo niece who LOVES it. But what keeps it to the 3 original games thus far (I'm about to get my PS2 sorted again so that I can try a few other titles) is the feel of the game. Like the simple controls which are complex enough that it's challenging. The characters' look like Mr Moneybags. The tone of the game, especially the bits that are anchored in fairytales. I doubt we'll get into the -Legend of Spyro- bits just because close combat really isn't what we're looking for.
The games did get better in the original trilogy. Like Spyro the Dragon comes across as a bit meh after playing the other two. The expansive worlds and tighter storylines of the next two installments were a vast improvement which makes me think that there was space for more of the same but bigger!. It's just a pity that they were panned for doing just that.

I-d often restart games and play from the beginning easier levels until over the years I eventually was able to make it to the final realm and try to beat Nasty Norg. Such fantastic memories which still makes for fun, nostalgic game play.

Can we get Toys for Bob to do remakes for Banjo-Kazooie+Tooie?
Rare and Playtonic sure as hell aren-t doing it, and they are due for a fresh new coat of paint.
Toys for Bob did an absolutely excellent job with the remakes for Crash and Spyro and now a Crash sequel. They are more than worthy to do a remake of those games too.

strongly disagree that the legend of spyro series was bad. I bloody loved the storyline and each time i play them, they leave me an emotional wrecking ball inside my stomach, especially the last 2 legends of spyros. maybe the gameplay wasn't great, but the story sure as hell was probably the best in the spyro series.

Spyro 2 ripto-s rage/Gateway to Glimmer is my favourite one in the series and the Ratchet and Clank series first started on the PS2 and it is still going strong to this day with Ratchet and Clank rift apart so I see no reason why they couldn-t make another spyro game or games beaches -

An older bigger spyro and cynder, and make it more attuned to the fans that grew up with spyro so more mature and maybe it can be directed for an older odience but I just can't see blood being spilled in a spyro game it would be cool but wouldn't feel like a spyro game.
