Assuming the new Mortal Kombat timeline follows similar beats, i wonder who will be the one to face and defeat Shang Tsung in the original MK1 tournament. Since Liu Kang is a God, he can not participate. It would probably be Raiden or Kung Lao. Perhaps Kitana if she defects. I can't really think of any character (during MK1 period) that would be able to defeat Shang Tsung--especially if he is in his prime.

I've never understood why Scorpion was able to fight for Outworld yet defeated three of the Lin Kuei (Fighting for Outworld due to being contracted by Shang Tsung) Who would those victories go toward? The Netherrealm?
