Join me as I go out thrifting, in search of games and interesting goods at various discount shops! Seems I stopped in during the radio hour this time Dassiswas: It's just so interesting to see a person react so lovingly to the very same things that I have a deep disgust towards, even though we are relatively same aged and probably dabbled with the same stuff in our childhoods. Can't stand electronics from the early 2000's, almost everything from the 90's brings back bad memories. 70's is often gross. 80's had some interesting stuff both mostly overvalued stuff in my humble opinion. But keep it going brother, I love watching you get excited over unnecessary hardware: D

OMG! My brother and I totally. Had one of those light as air Take-a-Long tape recorders! We used to record little news shows about our toys! - I remember once in particular that a hurricane hit our GI Joe army base thing. - We stuck GI Joe's all over the base sideways and stiff armed as though they were blowing in the wind of a silent film. Then we reported on as best as a 4 year old and 9 year old could. Thanks for the memories Clint! -

Reminder: Whenever you find a mass of collectables at a goodwill like that, it's usually because a friend, family member, or public worker dropped it all off. Usually after they were given the task of cleaning out the house. Usually because the collector passed away.
Sorry. There's no not-dark way to phrase that. Our fallen nerd brother is collecting Star Trek shit in heaven now.
F to pay respects.

Being boyfriends with a guy who has an amateur radio license through his dad, I have to say that you shouldn't have gotten that ham radio unless you got a license of your own; from what I was told, there's specific laws as to who can do amateur radio and on what frequencies, to keep them from interfering with other radio stations and radio frequencies (like for phones, so yeah.

The Astatic D104 lolipop ham radio mic are still very much sort after in the Ham Radio world.
You got your money worth in just the Mic!
Looks like a couple of Antenna SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) meters for testing the quality of the antenna match to the transmitter.
You should not have any problem off loading the Ham equipment if you don't want to keep it.

A biscuit tin I always wanted and have only seen in museums is a little like that drink coaster encyclopedia set. It was -A set of English classics- and each volume was designed for a different traditional type of biscuit made by Hunteleys and Palmer's (Reading biscuits) but with the title of a different classic of literature.

Just watching these videos and I have learned much about thrift finds and vintage dos computers hardware and programs. This video brought back memories since my dad was a ham radio guy and I thought if you do manage to get that radio working, research data packets using an old dos pc. It would make for an impressive oddware episode.

You did well with the HAM radio equipment. Even none working that Swan is worth quite a few bucks and you should easily get you your money back and more.
The Mic alone is sort after and would most likely get you most of your investment back. Check online as to the going rate of that stuff and you might be surprised.

-LGR if you still have that swan and dont know what to do with it, google -Ham radio club 'insert city or county name here' and send an email to someone there. Its a real good chance there is someone close by who would just be happy to look at that for you, let alone tell you what forums to list it for sale in.

The electronics prices at your Goodwills are almost completely unrealistic. Those are Bose 401's. LXI was an electronics house brand for Sears
Nice pic on the Ham radio bin- The D104 mic alone is worth about half of what you paid. The President Grant CB is also worth some money.
