Dick didn't hate the film; he said (sorry, I can't find the interview, so I'm paraphrasing) that it wasn't true to the book, but that it would be impossible to be true to the book on film. He also said let me tell you, that was one of the most successful moments of my career after watching a screening and wrote in a letter that Blade Runner is going to revolutionize our conceptions of what science fiction is and, more, can be.

The original actor to play Deckard was Robert Mitchum. Dustin Hoffman was later offered the role and turn it down.
Once Ford signed on to the project, co-writer Hampton Fancher decided Deckard should be designed and outfitted in the mold of Mitchum's most recognizably work, which was the Maltese Falcon. In the final version, there's a scene of Ford's Deckard leaning up against his office wall. It's direct homage to Mitchum.

Blade Runner is sweet movie to watch. And as kid back in the eighties, But could see on screen in till 83, On VHS from the local rental store which Mom and Pop stores back then. But as kid at the age was thought was cool R rated movie, And one coolest movies ever! But there was not a lot action in it. So as kid at first hard to relate to it. At first glance as movie. But I got little older the story got better and better to watch. And it's one Harrison Ford best movies, Since the storyline is so complex.

HBO.
The trilogy would open up movie Watcher's right in there home's and covenant for there schedule to enjoy the majeck of cinema.

I definitely like the original! The Director s cut is fine, but I would not have liked it if that was the original release! We probably wouldn t have gotten 2049 if that was the original! I think Harrison Fords narration is critical to keeping you engaged in this crazy world they are in, and I agree Decker should not be a Replicant! IMO

My all time favourite movie! I recently watched it and was disappointed that it didn t have the voice over, especially at the end when Deckard was saying that his life. all life was important! Loved the dove and nail in Roy s final scene.

I fell in love with this film when it first ran. The US theatrical release, with the voice overs, is still my favorite version. My favorite film to this day. I've heard it described as the most perfect imperfect film ever made.

I saw it at a drive-in in 1982, a month after graduating from college, enjoyed it very much, didn't agree with the criticism. The sequel is terrific as well. Ridley Scott is a great director.

I watched the original movie in 1982 in the cinema and was blown away. I think the lack of audience is confused with the audience not liking it. So that's not true.
