We're all very VERY fortunate that this show lent itself perfectly to so many famous guest appearances from our era's TV/movies/science/comics sub-genres. It got to be a badge of honor to do a guest-star role on TBBT. No other show has ever done that, and there may never be another that lends itself to it. Most of these now-famous guests will eventually lose most recognition in a couple more decades. But a few will be famous for a very long time. This series will be an excellent time-capsule of famous icons, even when they're all gone. Hard to imagine another show ever having the same popularity and guess-star gravity again. A magical show in a magical time, with all the right connections.

I loved Bob since the beginning of the Bob Newhart Show. But I didn't get the joke when Bob opens his show with a phone answering Hello. Decades later I learned that Bob's origin act involved a one-sided telephone conversation with historic figures. That was an homage to that origin. Loved it.

I love this show so much, and I watch it every single day. I'm on my ninth time around, and still laugh. I think all the cameos are so great, but my favorite, not really sure why, is the Michael Rapaport cameo in season nine episode six.

When you get the powerhouses they got speaks volumes about the show. a few minutes spot on a 30 minutes. The major of the people are extremely busy. I cant think of any other show that got the powerhouse big bang did.

These are some of the greatest people ever, and it's so cool that they were on this show! I think the only full episode with one of these stars that I've seen was the one with Mark Hamill. So awesome! :)

I still wonder why Sheldon thinks Bill Nye is such a big deal after the way he's made fun of Howard for not having a PhD. Bill Nye only has a bachelor's degree -- in engineering!

their are so many good one Adam West, all the Star trek, the cast is amazing, but it was the last one, Buffy that was like save the best non science cameo for last!

I loved Bob Newhart because i love his humor. His type of humor worked great with this show. Then Will Wheaton because the rivalry between him and Sheldon was so funny!

There was also the episode where they had William Shatner, Kevin Smith, Kareem Abdul Jabar, and Joe Manganiello all in one epic gathering, at Wil Wheaton's house.

although Leonard Nimoy never appeared on screen, his son Adam Nimoy did, S09-E07 The Spock Resonance. should have been at least an honorable mention, i think.

I just found the Firefly Series Collection and watched it through. I loved it. Leave it to bean counters in the head office to kill a wonderful series.

I was gonna say Im shocked that James Earl Jones wasnt number one, but then I saw the number one and thought that it was now justified.

Oh sh - I didn't know that was the dude from reading rainbow. I didn't realize till I heard his voice. That was weird.

Im surprised Will Wheaton is not higher on this list, considering how many times he guest appeared on the show
reply

Why are Bob Newhart and Billy Bob Thornton on this list? They didn't portray themselves, hence, not cameos.

These awesome cameo appearances are just part of the reasons why The Big Bang Theory is a total must-watch!

There is a difference between a cameo (Woz, Stan Lee) and a guest starring role ( Summer Glau, Wil Wheaton

I love these countdowns but the voiceovers are way too much. The woman talks too much over the episode clips.

I forgot about Wil Wheatons: Yeah? Well, live long and suckit! It threw me off and i just burst out cackling

I was in a Star Trek fan club years ago. Shatner was a guess at a local Con. and he was a complete jerk
