The slenderman one was hard to read about. That girl got lucky several times. Her two friends were originally going to kill her in her own home during a birthday slumber party. I think while she slept. They backed out of it though. Then (I think the next day) they went out to play and stopped at a park. In the bathroom, the friends try to see if they could knock her out by hitting her head against the wall. It doesn't work and they play it off like they accidently hit her or something along those lines. Then they finally decide to kill her in the woods. Poor girl got uncomfortable, but they managed to get her out there. Then they forced her to lie down when she didn't want to. Of the many times they stabbed her, according to the doctor, one stab came within a hair's length away from a main artery in her heart. If they would have hit that, she would have died within minutes if not less. Then after leaving her for dead, she manages to crawl out of the woods and a biker just happened to be passing by.
Watching the tapes of the two friends after they are caught very shortly after walking down the highway, is disturbing. They could have cared less and one was dancing and playing. Then the shock on their faces when they realized the girl had survived. They tried to act and claim innocence, but it was very obvious they wanted her dead and were surprised that she was still alive. The poor girl has so much trauma now and sleeps with scissors under her pillow. I am not sure what happened at the end of the case, but I think both of the friends ended up in jail.

You forgot the Stephanie Lazarus case.
True Story: Police officer Stephanie Lazarus BRUTALLY killed the wife of an ex boyfriend out of jealousy in late 70s early 80s. Because lack of technology, she was never found guilty and DNA wasn't existing at that time. DECADES go by, she's still an officer, specialized in art cases. 2009, her department through lack of cares, started investigating cold cases. Long story short, found her DNA and found her guilty.
SVU Version: An FBI agent friend of Liv's says she's investigating a cold case of a suspect guilty of MULTIPLE murders. The man says he's guilty and admitted to the murders, but the FBI agent is trying to pin the wife she killed onto him. He denies it. During an interrogation, Liv and the other detectives pretend to be giving him, they turn it onto her and she admits that she in fact killed the wife.

Im not sure if this video mentions anything but the episode Born Again tackles the Candace Newmarker case, as well as another one Im not familiar with. I knew about that case when I was pretty young, from watching Game Theory. I was horrified when I watched the episode when I realized that it was rebirthing therapy which killed the girl.
As someone who is adopted and has an abusive motherCandaces case haunts me. So many other True Crime Cases dont affect me, but Candices is enough to make me need to take a break and force myself to consume more wholesome content

I will never not believe that JonBenet Ramsey was killed by her father. It's far from the only evidence, but she had been penetrated before the night, and the ransom note tells John to leave the house alone with an adequately-sized attache - a large suitcase.
SO MUCH points to the simplest solution: A child killed by her father, who was molesting her.

You're missing an important information about the real story of the twins. They both unalived themselves later on in their lives. In 2002 Brian (twin that grew up as a boy) unalived himself. In 2004 David (twin that was forced to be a girl) and Jane separated, and David unalived himself as well. He was 38 years old.

Ngl the Cosby shit just doesn't add up. u got millions and signed a NDA when it happened and still kept in constant contact. then just my thought process doesn't think any reasonable person is going to a famous person's hotel room at the odd hours of night, thinking y'all gonna have a tea party

I THOUGHT some of these episodes felt familiar even when it was my first time seeing them. Thanks WatchMojo/MsMojo for confirming my suspicions that several episodes were inspired by real life even though they always show the disclaimer that all stories are false before each episode.

There are at least two that you left off the list: season 6, episode 4, Scavenger was inspired by the BTK case, and exactly 5 seasons later, season 11, episode 4, Hammered was inspired by the George Tiller murder. Both real-life cases happened where I live, in Wichita, Kansas.

I hate people that make hoaxes out of real life issues. It makes it harder to tell who's genuine, which makes it harder to give help to those who really need it. People like that need to be punished as severely as people who actually commit those crimes, im my opinion.

Its too bad that a lot of SVU is very loose with the law compared with real life. Like number 20, the not-Cosby, a good defense attorney (which a celebrity could easily afford) could have a decent argument for entrapment. Bye bye any actual case against the scumbag.

I watched the Glassgowman episode with my mum yesterday and as soon as I realised what was being referenced I straight up gasped and yelled ITS THE GIRLS! THE GIRLS DID IT
Not sure if my mum was miffed or not that I basically spoiled the episode for her.

The gypsy and dee dee reference may also be right, but law and order actually referenced it earlier but made it a sub plot to the Michael Jackson style case. The little girl lying was actually not sick and the grandma was literally diagnosed with Munchausen

I believe criminal minds had the best case on the little Ramsey girl, in that episode she was killed by her jealous older brother. While already losing one kid they covered it up so they didn't lose a second child that night.

There was an episode that was inspired by the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, a high school student on a graduation trip goes missing in another country. In case of the SVU ep, it was a Canadian student visiting NYC.

I found the beauty pageant constant crime very inspirational from an episode of Law & Order: SVU, because it was based on a real-life case which involved a real live murder of a missing beauty pageant constant.

I remember the first SVU episode I saw was one where Kay Panabaker was a 13 year old in a cult, and the cult leader killed her dad and impregnated her so he could get her dead fathers social security payments.

They've also covered 2 famous cases from Italy: Yara Gambirasio (the killer was found through the DNA of his real father, a bus driver) and the very famous worldwide Meredith Kercher/Amanda Knox case.

She didn't mention one of the recent incidences that happened that was portrayed in SVU. That Indian female gamer that got death threats from incels. I thought that one would definitely mentioned.

There was no crime involved, but the Paula Deen is a racist episode always makes me laugh because it came out like within a year of the headline and it was so obvious it was about Paula Deen

Watching the whole series (had only seen a few here and there before then. One of the most recent eps I've seen bears a very striking resemblance to the Epstein case. Flight in Season 12.

I believe Law & Orders The Right Stuff (season 21, episode 1) is more about Bill Cosby. The victim is much more similar to Bill Cosby (the only different being Cosby not being murdered)
