Lately they all suffer of. Putin's kind of syndrome, you know, the KGB secret agents spying on people listening their conversations by phone where they used to speak so low, music out loud, special effects to blow up your years and. only trying to guess what the heck are they talking about. l do not watch movies without subtitles for deaf ones, wish you ask the rule, for everybody and every movie, add the subtitles bellow, if we all have to feel deaf, that's Ok, we can express solidarity towards handicaped people as well

She has mastery over her craft. In TAR she spoke German like it was her 1st language. It was a masterclass really. It's a shame Cate Blanchett got snubbed for TAR, she was more than deserving of her 3rd win. Frances McDormand and Meryl Streep's 3rd wins were underwhelming but Blanchett's could have been well deserved. Still, that doesn't take away the fact that she is the Best living Actress working today.

Sorry, but I don't think Cate Blanchett's English accent in Notes on a Scandal is very good and I am British myself. In terms of Australian's Toni Collette's accent in Miss You Already (2015) and Wanderlust (2018) or Judy Davis in A Passage to India (1984, One Against the Wind (1992) and Page Eight (2011) are better.
Also, her Scottish sounds more English TBH.

Cate Blanchett is her generation's Meryl Streep and Katharine Hepburn. I was so shocked when the Oscar's gave the best actress award to Gweneth Paltrow, Cate's Queen Elizabeth was far above Paltrow. As with Meryl Streep I would be inclined to see her in a movie, even if the topic was not one I was a fan of, just to see their acting.

Im an Australian actor in training but I just wanna be as good as her but my video games and screens get in the way! Why is she just so creative it silences me! I cant create so many characters and nail so MANY different accents because shes overshadowing me with her nailing every one!
reply

Ms. Mojo I first thought Meryl Streep was the Daniel Day Lewis of women actors. Meaning they literally transform and ARE that character. Nope it's most definitely Blanchett. She has a PH. D in Story telling at it's finest.

She is Amazing and Gorgeous! The best of the best ACTRESS! Devil and Beast, QUEEN and simply Woman! I love her accent in every movie! Her very voice gives spark to many hearts! She will have a third Oscar.
reply

She didn't not win because she was not as good as Michelle, Michelle's performance left us with a bit of hope for the future and I think that we needed that this years, hence 'All Quiet' not winning the big Oscars.

Elvish? I mean her whole narration in LOTR's prologue gives me goosebumps. Nobody could possibly say the word power with such inflections of evil overtones. I can not imagine anyone else doing that role.
reply

The comment section is exactly why she didn't win her 3rd Oscar. The microaggressive racism towards Michelle Yeoh is disgusting. She deserves her Oscar fair and square, y'all can weep
reply

I loved Michelle Yeoh is EEAO but man Cate Blanchett was just took it on another level! I was always a fan of hers but Tar made me think that she is the greatest living actress of our time!
reply

If you haven't seen Fred Armisen's/Seth Meyers'/Bill Hader's documentary parody series Documentary Now! you should watch the two episodes featuring Cate. She's amazing in both (of course.

I like Cate's Australian accent in her early films like Paradise Road and Oscar and Lucinda. Even in her early roles, one could tell that Cate was going to have a stellar career.
reply

I disagree with the New Orleans accent. The true accent there is definitely not southern-sounding. Theres a mixture of accents, many that sound closer to a Brooklyn accent.
reply

Very very great epic list I like it a lot very very great job mis mojo one of my absolute favorite list ever she is one of the very best actress ever
reply

It would have been worth observing that Veronica Guerin was an actual Irish journalist who was, in fact, murdered -- it was not a fictional film.
reply

In terms of acting, she deserved that golden statue. But Oscar is not just about performance, but making this world a better place.
reply

With Cate Blanchette she will be lost in her character. You will not see her acting but she disappears in any character she portrays.
reply

She is the Only one to come close to Meryl Streep! She is a BRILLIANT actress. I LOVE watching her on the screen. She is MAGIC!
reply

she went through some injustices, losing an oscar to gwyneth paltrow, now to michelle yeoh, tho its better than losing to paltrow
reply

I think Cate Blanchett was incredible in the movie The gift the movie was great and her southern accent totally believable!
reply

She is the greatest actress of our time. Tar was an absolute masterpiece and she deserved an Oscar for it.
reply

Doesn't have a favorite, I like all her Performances. But her role as Tar was definitely the most impressed
reply

She's everything I wanted to be as an actress. I simply admire and marvel at the work of Cate Blanchett.
reply

This makes me wonder who they're going to get to play her if they ever make a film about her life story?
