There's all kinds of places in movies that have the same name as a real location but they make sure to put a disclaimer in the End credits that states The people and places in the movie were all fictitious and bare no resemblance to anyone or any place alive or dead

I think that one of the main messages in the movie has been overlooked. This is how the black people where treated in America in the Segregation Era between 1849 & 1950, the only difference here is that the zombies are a representation of the black people that were horribly discriminated against during that time.
