I feel like that one The Killing Joke ship (not gonna say which one it is because it just grosses me out so much, and because I'm pretty sure it was NEVER INCLUDED IN THE COMIC) is PRETTY high up on my personal controversy list, even going so far as having to state that in a fancomic I wrote - despite it being in an AU of Gotham.

In the early days of the X-Men comic, Professor X was intended to only be a few years older than the X-Men. Him being significantly older and a father figure to Jean were later retcons, the former partly because artists kept drawing him looking older than he was supposed to be.
