While it has moments that will make us feel emotional, the story in Tears of the Kingdom is not as well structured as it is done in Breath of the Wild, Skyward Sword or any of the previous Zelda games.
It left us with too many plot holes and so many questions that confuses fans like the lack of Ganondorf s backstory, the identity of the Ancient Hero, who are the Zonai since Rauru and Mineru are the only ones, why isn t Twinrova in this game for the boss battle(since Kotake and Koume made brief appearances, and how the events of the Imprisoning War is connected to Calamity Ganon.
Thus, Western Nintendo have once again rewritten the original Japanese scouse to their own image such as making Link to a blank slate instead of being his own character.
And since the story itself is divided into two, why couldn t we have a playable Princess Zelda? It would not only given us to see more of Ancient Hyrule since the Dragon Tears can only give us a glimpse of that era and her interactions with other characters like her knight/lover Link, King Rauru and Queen Sonia. But it would have makeup lost opportunity Skyward Sword had with its unfinished Second Quest story. A playable Zelda with a gameplay that is much different than Link s and to see things from her own perspective would of been a fresh new take to the LoZ franchise if Nintendo had not decided to cancel their DLC plans.

Tears of the Kingdom > Balder's Gate 3 by far for me. It has a much more polished combat and a wide variety of crafting mechanics to boot and the was like easily the best open world game ever made with all its innovations and the quality to match the quantity. I know D&D is very lore heavy and so many ways to make character story to alter, and a fun game to play with friends. But it's not the best combat system ever and moving place to place is much more slow paced compared to TotK. But my top 10 list looks a little something like this. If some ground rules is full games (Not DLC expansions of games released last year or before) and no remakes.

9) Final Fantasy XVI
8) Fire Emblem: Engage
7) Pikmin 4
6) Spider-Man 2
5) Super Mario Bros Wonder

Spider man 2 while great with its characters, gameplay and that Venom section. its still another western media piece infected by WOKE and pandering and letting miles deal the final blow to the final boss rather than Peter is just another pandering/WOKE bait and switch and even MJ section was just pandering being done for the ESG scores by ESG companies. because that's the new quota I guess for western companies in both movies, shows and games.

I totally agree with baldurs 3 being goty but howgarts legacy not being on the list, even in honorable mentions is clearly because of J. K. Rowling opinion and thats ridiculous. media should jugde the game itself and not the people (that has nothing to do with the game. this list just shows why hogwarts legacy wasnt nominated at TGA (in any category.

Hogwarts Legacy should've been listed. There's already talks about a sequal in the making. This game not only allowed us to c more of th insides to our beloved castle-magic school, it allows us to explore across the Highland region where its loc. For me, I felt like a kid again when I went to c the 1st movie, when I played this game the 1st time.

While FF16 had a number of flaws, I absolutely love the game. The music, the locations, and the lore were all really interesting and I just wish more people got as attached as I did. That said, I'm also very glad so many people are into BG3, even if it has pretty much eaten all the available time and leftover soul my friends have.

As a casual gamer, super Mario wonder was THE game I was most excited for release and it s just as enjoyable and nostalgic as i felt playing Super Mario World and Yoshi s Island for the SNES! I cannot wait for more future 2D platforms to continue after Wonder. This year has great games for everyone.

2023 is arguably the best year ever for gamers. I have more than 1000 hours myself at least.

As much as I highly enjoyed original RE4, I like RE4 Remake more, due to:
Smoother awesome combat
Ashley being a whole lot likeable
Luis standing out
Inclusion of Stealth, etc.
So much effort Capcom has put into this game, and I thank them for it.

I'm not sure what game will win GOTY at the awards this year as there's tons of great ones. but FF16 needs to win Score/Soundtrack of the year because that was some of the best music I've ever heard in a game. up there with P5, Zelda soundtracks, Skyrim and more.

Spiderman 2 was great gameplay wise but Insomniac really needs to improve it's writing. Hard to get into these darker tones when the 2 leads talk like Barney the dinosaur. My favorite of the year was Phantom Liberty, which is crazy considering it was dlc.

Hogwarts Legacy should ve been on the list, it finally gave so many Harry Potter fans the experience they have been waiting so long and did it so well, the story wasn t perfect but the attention to detail and just love put into the game was remarkable

W T F Maaaan. Spoilers. We all can't have played everything. I just got the ability to switch in Alan Wake and have been looking forward to this great sequence everyone's being hush about. I think you may have just spoiled the hell out of that.

Idk but I totally disagree with your opinion. Spider Man 2, Zelda and resident evil 4 would be my top 3 with spider man on top. After that I would pick Baldur's Gate 3 and Alan Wake. I still can't believe you put Mario above Spider Man.

I am a huge FF fan since the 90's but my two best games of 2023 are BG3 and Lies of P. Lies of P was a first game but it was amazing: the story, the music, the atmosphere. It was way more than just a Soul inspired game.

TotK is better than BotW in every way and that's why it's my GotY, however, that's pretty much exactly what the game is, an improved version of BotW, which is why I think Baldur's Gate 3 deserves to win this time.
