With a decade full of great movie soundtracks like the 80s, there was inevitably going to be some gems that got passed over for this list. I can name so many songs that I think would make great additions to a list like this, like Stan Bush's The Touch (Transformers, 1986, David Bowie's Underground (Labyrinth, 1986, and Billy Joel's Why Should I Worry (Oliver & Company, 1988.

What a nostalgia trip! Brought back amazing memories. On a personal note, License to Kill is my favourite James Bond song, and I doubt anything will ever replace it. And perhaps the only song I was expecting but didn't see was Stay by Bonnie Bianco and Pierre Cosso (it was for a movie, before it was re-released as a miniseries.

There's some really great songs here, some of which I didn't realize were movie songs! To be fair, I turned 2 the first year of that decade, so I wasn't exactly on top of motion picture soundtracks at the time, lol. Thanks for the great video and stay safe out there!
reply

You missed a couple good ones from Vision Quest
Lunatic Fringe - Red Ryder
Only The Young - Journey
Also how did You’re The Best by Joe Esposito from Karate Kid or No Easy Way Out by Robert Tepper from Rocky IV not make this list

reply

Great stuff! I didn't know some of those were movie songs. This video would be a great introduction to the 80s for someone who wasn't around then, and it's a great nostalgia trip for those of us who were there. Thanks!
reply

This could have easily filled 200 songs. After La Boum 1 I was desperately waiting for the second movie to show up, as I absolutely adore the Cook da Books song Your Eyes. So sad it didn't make the list.
reply

The 80's had some of the best film soundtracks of all time. My favourites include Top Gun, Back to the Future, Dirty Dancing, Footloose, Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club, to name but a few.
reply

Also Turn On Your Heartlight, by Neil Diamond from ET, Jungle Love by Maurice Day and the Time from Purple Rain, and New Attitude by Pattie LaBelle from Beverly Hills Cop.

Hello Some Random Guy I love this video you did a really good job. I hope this saga continues where you might make a top 100 movie songs of the '70s or '60s someday.
reply

Surprised you were able to narrow it down to just 100 with how many bangers there are.
Also, Stand By Me was released in 1961. It wasn't written for the movie.

reply

I definitely like more Olivia in the '80s (in Xanadu and Two of a kind) than in Grease: it counts for all her releases in the 2 decades
reply

Nice list. I'd have Only the Young by Journey from Vision Quest on it, but overall I agree with your choices. Thanks for putting it together.
reply

John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band - Voice Of America's Sons(Cobra. Frank Harris - Hold On to the Vision (No Retreat, No Surrender)
reply

But that’s missing the songs from Some Kind of Wonderfula classic film by Howard Deutch (much like Pretty in Pink, which was included.
reply

Movie soundtracks don't hit the same as they once did. There are a couple of soundtracks that do, but those are few and far between.
reply

So many bangers, even if the corresponding movie wasn't a blockbuster and/or hasn't become a classic. The 80s never disappoint
reply

I miss the days of films getting a big song to accompany them. Hasn't really been a thing since the early 2000's it feels
