THE 10 COMMANDMENTS OF INGROWN HAIR PREVENTION
1. THOU SHALT NOT PASS!
Too many quick passes with the blade. One pass per hairy area - going 1-2 inches downward at a time - will prevent ingrown hairs. Always shave like you might cause damage, not like your mowing the front yard lawn.
2. HONOR THY DELICATE SKIN!
Too many blades! If you are prone to ingrown hairs then you don-t need 3 or more blades.
3. THOU SHALT NOT PRESS!
Pressing too hard on the skin with the blade. A gliding, light touch is all you need. This is likely your biggest issue. So follow #4
4. DO NOT TAKE PREP TIME IN VAIN!
You should be using a warm/hot water prep (5 mins. Then leave the shaving creme on for more than 3 minutes to really soften the hair. The hair stubble should literally fall away with little or no pressure at all. Pressing hard is the problem! Be gentle ya'll.
5. THOU SHALT NOT USE DIRTY BLADES!
Using a blade that's been used way too many times. Yes, this one may be obvious, but be sure to keep your used tools as clean as possible. Soap and rubbing alcohol will destroy bacteria.
6. THOU SHALT NOT CLOG!
Use of skin/pore clogging cremes or lotions. These keep hairs from growing up. After a shave, keep your skin bare; let the tiny army breath, and allow those newly shaved, really small, microscopic hairs to grow out just in time for the next shave.
7. REMEMBER TO EXFOLIATE!
Exfoliation removes excess layers of skin and prevents shorn hair from regrowing towards the skin and from becoming trapped beneath the skin. Brushing teases the hairs away. Get an ingrown hair brush designed for your face or body region and use as directed.
8. THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT OVER SHAVING!
Shaving too many times. This rule is hard to follow especially if you have to shave for your career but if you are prone to ingrowns, try shaving with an electric clipper. The results are not super close but no one but you will know the difference. Ladies, try waxing.
9. THOU SHALT NOT GO AGAINST THE GRAIN!
Shaving against the grain. Shave in the direction of hair growth (usually down, but perform a face map to be sure.
10. KEEP THY SKIN FREE!
Avoid tight fitting clothing around the Adam-s apple (neck) and/or below the waistline region.

My biggest tip if you get irritated skin easily by shaving is to switch from cartridge razors to double edge safety razors(DE Razors, shave after your shower, use a good pre shave cream or oil. using a DE razor instead of cartridge can help by taking the amount of blades from like 6 blades to 1 blade, each blade that passes over your skin is a pass, so think 5 blades in one stroke is 5 passes, one blade one pass. also a plus side to de shaving is the price, it's really cheap to shave using de razors instead of the expensive cartridge blades.

I-m sorry but Gillette Razors are so ass. Switch to a safety razor. They are more environment friendly and are surprisingly cheaper. You get a much closer, more comfortable shave with a safety razor. I use a closed comb double edge safety razor of MUHLE based in Germany. It is literally the best when it comes to shaving products. A razor from MUHLE costs like $50. You have to replace so many cartridges which are too expensive surprisingly. Gillette razors just aren-t it for me

IMO, the best razor is the Leaf Razor. Load it with Parker blades, soften the beard with Proraso pre-shave, then lather up Proraso shave cream with a brush and finish with a nice balm, and I guarantee you will get the best shave ever. Since the Leaf has a pivot and it is super hard to cut yourself, you can speed through the shave risk-free.

Use double edge safety razor, no tug or pull, super smooth and close. Also blades are pennies not dollars. Which I must admit my beard hair is as thick as a tree, but it has been a life saver. Also I use soaps and a brush, exfoliates and hydrated hair before shaving, haven-t had a razor bump in years since doing so.

I've just learned to shave you need shaveing gel to cut thick hairs with no pull and get rid of fine hairs with no cuts bumps and redness I really love shaveing maybe ill get exfoliant tomorrow ive like drying my face out once a week I like wake up effect face was after a shave

I add Avenno moisturizer dry skin lotion to my Edge shave gel. Rub them together for more moisturizers. Have a great shave.
