Me, a curly: Historical curly hair? YEEEEAAAA--th. this isn't about curly hair at all. 1920s: Those are really bad fingerwaves and the makeup is way too modern. 1930s: That hair would never distract me from my imminent economical doom. I'm already doomed and I don't feel distracted. 1940s: Pin curls? Where? I saw like one pin. And I don't believe those loose waves were created without heat. And that makeup looks too '50s. Speaking of which. 1950s: I'll allow it. That's cute as hell and it reminds me of Lucille Ball. 1960s: I can't think of one '60s actress or model that looked like this. 1970s: 1 of 3 people in the video with actual curly hair. I can't speak for people with Afros in the 70s but just from pictures I dunno if they picked them out that much. And like another commenter said, they cut some shape into them. 1980s: For one thing I don't think winged eyeliner was really a thing in the 80s yet? And I remember curls being brushed through a lot more. Although, I think this might be 2 out of 3 people in the video with actual curly hair so there's that. 1990s: .uh2000s: Damn if I didn't try to get this look after brushing all the natural curls out of my hair every day. Little did I know. Also, this hairstyle is STILL very much in vogue. My old stylist wore it (although much better. I saw a group of girls taking prom dress photos at the park in the spring, and literally every one of them had loosely curled hair like this. 2010s: 3 out of 3 people in this video with actual curly hair. Beautiful Absolutely beautiful And I'm really glad to be in a time and place where I have access to all this knowledge about how you're actually supposed to take care of curly hair. People in the comments are being over dramatic that it said curly not curled it doesnt matter that much, and if there was a video about straight hair and someone had their hair straightened, nobody would care because it literally doesnt matter. If you curl your hair it could be described as curled or curly just like how if you straighten your hair it can be described as straightened or straight

Probably the most inaccurate thing Ive seen out of all the 100 years of videos. Like 1930s hair was WAYYYY shorter and had more of a wave to it. 1940s hair has a wave but a lot of the had a poof at the end. 1970s Afro was more round, it wasnt as wide and it was more in order. Get ur stuff right please

lmao they need to re-do this video and get people with actual natural curly hair, from looser curls (not little waves) to medium curls like mine (type 3-4, 4c hair, afros, and coily hair. This is just a bunch of white women curling their hair and false representation of afros.

I dont understand how you could do a video about curly hair (not curled) since everyone with curly hair has different types, no matter the decade. Unless you were doing a video about how it was viewed throughout the decades. Or maybe how curly headed girls styled it? Idk

This is not curly hair, its just curled with a curling iron (aka white people copying the black culture again with no one saying anything about it) Just remember Natural hair is beautiful and you should never perm or relax your hair: )

These were limp waves and people faking curly hair most of the time. You couldnt get models with very curly hair? The most you were willing to do were super loose textured hair. Shame

. 55 that was not done with pins, fin ups were tight and whet usually brushed out so they were thick and a little frizzy, not neat and loose like with a curling iron
