I had my colors done something like 45-50 years ago and was told I was a Winter. I'm guessing it was because I have brown eyes and, at that time, naturally really dark brown hair. Well, now at age 70 my hair is dyed and not nearly as dark as my natural color once was. Going as dark as I naturally was is too harsh on me now. Whenever I would go to some place like Sephora they would color match me for foundations and would always go with a warm tones but I would get home, use the foundation I feel my face was way too yellow. Eventually I gave up and stick with a neutral which makes me personally much happier. My hair dresser has been in the process of getting certified for color analysis and I have already informed her I want to be her first customers when she adds that to her salon business. There's been no question for quite a while that my winter color analysis cannot possibly be the same when I don't look anything like I did all those years ago, yet hearing that no matter a person's current hair color, their basic color pallet does not really change. I find this facinating. Seeing someone (even if only through video, is way more informative than just a video where color analysis is being explained to me. I'm a visual learner so actually seeing this version was more informative in general.

Hairstylist of 25 years here- SUMMER BEAUTY- has a great video on color analysis that does a great job of providing HELPFUL direction to do your own analysis as opposed to this. That video, have you been wearing the wrong color, has the 12 possible outcomes as well and as a stylist of 25 years- I learned so much from that video that i can bring to my clients as she is actually sharing the love and know how, with the people watching not just marketing herself or a guest, for biz

It's all about colour combinations as well. For example, that grey head scarf impacted how the various colours looked on her. If the scarf was gone and she had her hair free, whether her natural colour or otherwise, it would have changed the outcome significantly. there are several colours that would look fantastic on her but were ruled out. And so what if a colour jumps out first as opposed to the face. The bright red was amazing on her.

Anybody that thought you were a winter or summer never bought your Volume 1 eyeshadow palette, because as beautiful as it was, and the quality was amazing. This cool undertoned girlie couldn't make them work as well as I'd have liked. I was hoping that Volume 2 was going to be cool neutrals. None of the shades of makeup, be it blush, lips or eyes that you loved were ever right for me. I pegged you as a soft Autumn years ago!

I do understand and agree that there is actual legitimate color theory/science behind it, but with the whole color analysis thing, it just really rubs me the wrong way with the attitude of This is 'right' and this is 'wrong, You HAVE to wear only within this, you CAN'T wear that, that sort of thing. I'm going to wear colors that I like, regardless of if it looks right on me or not, if I like it and want to wear it.

I wish I could afford to do something like this. As I’m almost 50, I’m really noticing some colors just make me look like crap. I can get away with wearing more colors than most but some shades make me look tired, or older and I definitely don’t want to enhance the jowls. I’m definitely cool toned and the struggle with finding foundation is real. I get that from my dad, he’s more red pink than me.

You look so beautiful in those chocolatey browns, Tati! (In everything really) I really struggle though because if I really like a colorlike I really loved that dark blue on you. then you both agreed that the softer blue looked betterand I’m likebut I love the sharp features w/ the darker colors on you. Whereas, a blonde, lighter toned woman like my mom cannot wear blues like that without it washing her out.

I love this video, I did this color testing 8 Years ago and luckily didn’t need to change most of my clothe, my mom has a very good eye as seamstress, so thank you mom for teaching me. Nevertheless, there are some colors that I love, like primary red & others, that don’t look good on me, but as I told the color expert, the joy they bring me surpase the color science & I wear them anyway.

Thank you for the comment about neutral undertones! When I had my colours done in the eighties, she had the hardest time deciding if I was winter or spring. I'm fairly sure I'm neutral! But leaning a tad cool. Nothing like my mother, though, who is a true winter! She did pick winter for me, but my best colours were forest green and charcoal grey. My mother's were navy, purple and hot pink!

Yes - I guessed Autumn correctly - in England, had my colours done with CMB - Autumn - all colours warmth.
I went shopping with my Swatch wallet & was questioned by a buyer who happened to be in the store - she was fascinated
Now, I'm going Grey, & I'm ill & incredibly pale, but I still try to follow CMB.
And yes, I did clear out my wardrobe, much to my work colleagues delight

Loved this video so much! It was wild to see the shadows come out more in wrong colors, and the color analysis lady was SO nice and knowledgeable. You should do another video with her going over makeup. ALSO I’m pretty sure I look better in cool undertones so it would be amazing doing some videos with her where you show makeup colors for the different seasons!

As a photographer, I really love this video! I’m not sure if I missed it, however, I think it’s important to address that the area Tati and Rebecca were working in had even lighting. Many times a closet or a room that we’re getting dressed in doesn’t have that, so it’s easy to get confused about color and its influence on our features.

I had my colors analyzed many years ago when the Carol Jackson book and method first exploded. I am still a spring even with white hair. The only colors I don't wear any more are camel and other browns. Otherwise the original basic spring palette still works perfectly. I'm an artist so more sensitive to colors than most people are.

In my opinion, I think you look better with the blonde hair. I think golden hair tones would suit you better than red hair tones. I think the hair color you have in this video is too chocolatey and should be more of a golden brown. Maybe you can do a video trying on different wigs with different colors/styles to see what works best.

I know I’m seeing you through a screen, but according to this screen I’d say you are much more of summer. The pinks in your lips and skin are definitely cool. Your eyes are cool. Your hair is cool. Your contrast is medium and your features are soft, ruling out winter. I’m convinced you’re actually a summer.

This is super interesting! What does hair turning gray do to your color palette
I have a similar issue to Tati, traditional color technique says that I should be a light cool winter with jewel tones but most of those wash me out. I'm going to see if there is someone in my area (New England) that does this!

I need this. Even my hairstylist had a problem mixing a shade that matched my natural color to cover my grays because she said I have cool AND olive tones Half polish half middle eastern. Such a struggle getting the right foundation that I rarely wear it. Recommendations of a person who does this in Michigan

I may have to watch and rewatch this 453 times as I just don’t see anything but Tate’s eyes pop. Help I feel I’m colour blind. . Edited I have watched it 3 times and it’s starting to click. Please do more of these as I will never be able to see this with my own eyes unless you train

This analysis is a classic example of Chromatic Fragmentation and Spectral Interference (Stage III.
Standard color analysis is not a science, it's based on a subjective and eurocentric theory that shows over 90% fail rate in my decade-long scientific research. Which is also the case here.

I want to watch these videos for education, but the up-talk, vocal fry and just babbling like it's cute or entertaining is just too PAINFUL. It's like women/toddler talk. Not cute. Old ladies, attempting to look younger while talking like toddlers. Not remotely cute.
