Good post that gets down to the details and nitty gritty Looks like tips I could definitely use on my fine, slippery long hair I needed to slow down the video to get a little better view and noticed the wavy side of the pin was on the bottom and straight side on top? Never have heard on a hair demo which side of pin is up or down. Is wavy side down the general rule? If so, I've been doing it opposite way for years Also don't ever see you open up the end wider with fingers (or teeth) to get a bigger 'bite', so totally unnecessary? For such a simple tool, they can be tricky to use effectively

The Gothic Two-Step
I just prefer something like the second method but using ordinary u-shaped hair pins - kirby grips get bent out of shape, jam together ina way that often leads to them wobbling straight back out and don't hold the hair the way I like at all. Also, if my bun is at the back of my head and has ended up sticking out too far, I do what you say not to do with that method - start a little higher up, stabbing the pin into the lumpy part, and I actually angle the pin away from the centre of the bun rather than down towards it to well and truly anchor the lump down towards the scalp.

I have a fullproof technique on how to do a perfect bun: First grab all hair Second twistThird wrap it in a bun form as tight as possibleFourt tie it in place(not with bobby pins) now it's gonna look ugly soFifth grab the made bun and twist in the other of the way you wrapped itSixth adujst it to the way you like it with bobby pins if needed and add bobby pins to secure itHope you guys understood and hope it helped

Maybe could you do modern ball hair styles (I'm thinking like a mermaid braid with sparkles in it, that might look nice) if you look up modern ball gowns (I did with sleaved) you can find some pretty hairstyles and some of them I would LOVE to know how to do. I know this would be a big project, but Halloween is right around the corner

Yay thank you for this video These tips and tricks will come in handy as buns are my go-to hairstyle for work, school, working out and well, basically for everything in life: D i've been doing them for years but they can always use some perfecting. Thank you for always teaching me something new

I've always used the check method, and not even realized it. I thought it was just common knowledge lol Another trick I've learned is if you have a ponytail elastic, make sure to stick the pin into it. That really helps the pin from coming loose.

I just tried it and it works amazing When I tried to make a bun it always had a funny shape but not anymore. I have very thick hair and normally i need a ton of Bobby pins but now I can make one with four

Thank you Kayley, needed this If you make another, I would love to learn how to hide your hairelastic with a pin. I never manage: the hair falls out or the pin sticks out, very annoying.
