Ok so some suggestions, detangle in the shower while your hair is soaking wet with conditioner. Use a wide tooth comb. Rinse out the conditioner, squeeze out extra water but don't ever towel dry! If your hair is absorbing too much water, blot with a pillow case or t-shirt, never ever a towel. Apply a cream product (about a quarter size amount for longer hair and half that for shorter hair. Use prayer hands to do that. Then use a detangler brush such as a denman or a tangle teazer. THEN use a light gel such as the Shea Moisture Coconut Gel Oil (it's super thin and light weight and great for type A/B/C hair without weighing it down. Spread this evenly between your hands, flip your head over and scrunch. Flip back over and let it dry. Once it's totally dry you can scrunch out the crunch. Make sure you're not using any silicones or sulfates in any of your products and please make sure you only wash your roots. The shampoo will slide down the hair shaft and cleanse the mids to ends without you scrubbing the crap out of it like mentioned at the beginning of the video lol. It's really not necessarily, easy finger tips y'all

I ve always had some natural wave to my hair. It wasn t until March when everything started shutting down and I never styled my hair with heat anymore that my hair was wavier than I thought. I looked into a brand by a lady who has children with all different hair types. Some with very coarse, coily hair, some straight, some wavy. It is fairly cheap and found at Walmart. It is called Hairitage by Mindy McKnight. I found products that would work best for my hair and have been using them for a few months now. I noticed the other day that my hair had gotten much wavier. I took a shower, put my hair in my towel wrap to let it dry just a little bit because my hair holds lots of water, brushed it, and just let it go. Finding your natural curl pattern takes time and the right products. If I want to define my curls a bit more, I will use the curl cream from Hairitage and plop my hair in my towel wrap for a while. When I take it out, it s wavy enough for me and then I just let it sit. I don t even use my blow dryer and diffuser anymore.

Best advice is be patient. This is a journey and it takes time to fine the methods and products that work for you. I've been Curly Girl for a little over 2 years Welcome to the Curly Girl Method and good luck on your hair journey. :)
Also if anyone is interested here is my routine (abridged-ish)
All steps are upside down unless stated otherwise
Wash and condition (do a good squish to condish with conditioner on very wet hair)
Apply leave in and hair oil to soaking wet hair (glaze, then rake, then squish to condish both products)
Wet plop leave in and hair oil in a shower cap
Remove the shower cap and apply curling cream and gel (glaze, then rake, then gentile squish)
Dry plop in a microfiber towel
After I take my hair out of the dry plop I adjust my curls so they lay where I want them to and air dry the rest of the way
(I'm wanting to get a hair dryer and diffuser but do not have one at the moment)

Hairstylist/wavey hair girl myself here! I kinda have the same curls that AnnaLaura has, and what has worked best for me is using a wide tooth combs in the shower with conditioner and then rinse. And don t brush it once you get out of the shower because once you brush it, it s breaking up the curl pattern. With manes my Mel her hair is super curly so it s use to that and doesn t need help being curly. For AnnaLaura and my hair it needs a little help so by not brushing it it s just letting it do its thing. Also spritzing it with water and adding a little product after you sleep on it just like you said will help a lot, sometimes you don t even need to add more product because most products reactivate when wet. Hope this helps! Also Kayley you need to do this on your hair now! With your short hair your waves will probably thrive because it doesn t have all the weight that long hair does! Ahhh and it would look so cute on you!

MORE WATER! I have a similar hair texture and I detangle in the shower and just squeegee the most water I can out of my hair with NO TOWEL. Then I brush and part my hair. After I section and rake the product through (strengthening cream, leave in, then curl cream) one by one. When I get to the curl cream I usually add a bit more water and then scrunch up. I usually do this over a mat or a towel because water should come out! I then just leave it to air dry and I don't touch it until its dry.
This is just what works for my hair texture I am like a 2b on my underneath sections and 2c to 3a on my top hair sections. The biggest thing when finding out what works for my hair is that I would get all kind of weird pieces that were half wonky if I plopped or did completely upside down. Now I just scrunch when it's wet and move my head to the side so the curl is completely perpendicular to the floor. Good luck!

I always had short hair but as my hair grew out it started getting frizzy and I couldn t figure out what the heck was going on. I saw Annie forget me knots do the curly method and tried it and surprise the frizz is because I have curly wavy hair. It takes a while for your curl pattern to come out! Don t overload with product keep it simple! My curls always look best the second and third day when I refresh. Be patient and enjoy the journey! Don t be rigid about your curls it s ok to wear your hair different ways just be careful with products and to much heat! And don t shampoo constantly and don t shampoo the ends just your scalp as you rinse the shampoo with run down the ends and cleanse them. Check out India Baston she s awesome so is curly Susie

I tried the 'hover-method' on mij wavy hair but found it to be a little too heavy on the roots and it elongated my waves, which I didn't want. I just do the scrunch thing from halfway down my hair to the roots, and then all the way from the roots to the top on the second round. It gets me more definition and more volume, because it lets the roots breathe a little while I'm blowdrying my hair.
Also, I brush my hair while I have my conditioner in and after that I flip my hair over to rinse out. Stay upside down while getting out of the shower, scrunch in products in soaking wet hair (for definition. More damp/plop first if you want a more voluminous look) and plop.
Experiment away, lovely ladies!

I tend to spend most of my hair time moisturising. On non wash days I do some dry shampoo at the roots and Kristen ess leave in condtioner on the ends. I love it because it's so light (even though it says to not put it on dry hair I find it doesn't make it greasy or anything. I also dry with a t shirt to keep it from getting too damaged. I've been loving Aussie miracle curl refreshing spray. I use it mostly on wet hair to keep it from being too crunchy, but when it is getting really frizzy it is good on dry hair as well. I love the jojoba oil in it. makes my hair nice and soft. I'd say my hair is pretty similar to Anna Laura's but shorter and possibly thinner so hopefully this helps!

The last 2 months my curls do best when I use my J Beverly Hills Platinum 5-in-1 (always use this) followed up with jojoba oil. I use my tangle teaser brush after i get out of the shower, rake in my j beverly, and I do 3 pumps jojoba per side - scrunched in the bottom half and a little bit at the roots
My curls are amazing and clump nice!
Also, I will often scrunch in a little water after the jojoba, then use a microfiber towel to scrunch the hair dry instead of plopping
I found for me the curling cream plus gel plus plopping just wasn't working

Anna's hair still didn't look wet enough for gel (it should be sopping wet and you should hear a sloppy squelching sound when you apply the gel. Also use a tshirt or microfiber towel without loops to dry and plop it (look up plopping. Twisting the turban flattens the curl. Once the gel is fully dry, scrunch the crunch to break the cast. I like using a tiny bit of oil like the olaplex bonding oil while scrunching the crunch. It just gives the hair more shine and less frizz. Also, a keratin treatment would tighten her curl. I like the aphogee two-step treatment.
