Welcome back, today we re going to do character art of Jem! I m going to start by doing a tri-colour ombre as the background of this nail. I m then going to apply two layers of Matte Top Coat and buff the first layer to smooth the surface out. I m then going to draw a star in pencil and keep my character inside that star. I m going to use Gel Polish to paint this nail, starting with the face, then the hair and finishing with facial features. I ll use Serious Black to outline the art in that comic book style of the show and then I ll draw out my star in Snow White and outline in Serious Black. I ll obviously finish with Bling! zoe: My sister absolutely loved Jem and her name is Gemma so she used to tell her friends she was Jem. She even had the earrings!

I swear, Kirsty, watching you work is like watching a magician make things appear out of thin air! I can hardly believe you created this illustration with nothing but gel polish! I would have expected acrylic paint, but no! You surprised me and knocked me off my feet! I adore this kind of red/blue/purple color shifting dark AB Swarovski crystals, too!
I can't say that I was a big fan of Jem, but I certainly knew who she was. She just came about when I was already in high school, or maybe very late teens/college age. I remember catching bits and pieces of Jem while nursing some of my early hangovers. It was still on when my son was big enough to start watching cartoons, so I definitely saw some episodes then, too.

I think I was deprived of girlie cartoons I'm old enough that I should know this character, but growing up I had a slightly older brother and only 1 tv. looking back it seems like we didn't watch anything with pink girl power
