My favorite hack for rejuvenating old mascara: fill a cup with boiling (or at least very hot) tap water, then stick the mascara tube into the cup, after first making sure that the tube is tightly sealed (you never want to add water to the mascara itself; you add bacteria to the mascara and that's not good. Let the tube sit in the hot water for about five minutes, then remove the tube, dry it off, and use like usual. The dried, thick mascara on the inside of the tube will have softened and thinned out, making it very much like new.

Regular nail lacquer takes 6-12 hours for the volatiles (the ingredients which evaporate allowing the polish to dry) to fully evaporate off. Due to the impermeable nature of the gel topcoat if it is applied before all of the volatiles have off-loaded you will experience rippling and possibly peeling due to the polish underneath not being fully dry. You will need to break the seal of the gel topcoat by filing off the shine before your choice of remover will be able to penetrate the regular polish layer to remove

Hi! Nail tech here! Yes the UV gel top coat method is legit! Just make sure your normal lacquer underneath is fully dry! That s very important! Also another tip for the polish on the skin issue is put your top coat on and get some top coat on the polish you got on your skin and then take a cuticle pusher the tip end not the scoop end and it ll just come right off giving you a super clean line!

I don't know about the other tricks, but the thumb one is the WINNER! I have been using that tip for years and can't go back to my old ways anymore! What I do for a clean up on thumbs is, I get my detail clean up brush and dip that one into acetone and use it for clean up. You can buy fancy brushes or like me just get cheap eye brow liner brushes that are thin and precise and get the job done

Instead of using your thumbnail dipped in acetone to correct nail polish on your skin, try dipping an angled brush instead. The slim and stiff bristles will wipe away your nail polish smoothly, that s the same technique used in nail salons. Limiting your skin contact with acetone is a big deal, dipping your thumbs continuously in acetone is drying on your skin and carcinogenic long term.

Hi Tati, I recently heard a tip about doing Gel manicures. Apparently, the UV lights that are used to cure the nails can cause a lot of sun damage to our hands. So, whenever you use the light make sure you have sunscreen on your hands to stop them from aging prematurely. I never thought about it before, but it makes total sense. We are constantly protecting our faces from UV.

The bath robe and t shirt over the face tips are genius! Another one for painting your nails is just to let them dry and then add a little water to any areas where you got paint on your skin and then just take your fingernail to scrape it off. Nail polish doesn t want stick to skin. (I think I read this in Allure magazine years ago.

I LOVE the bonus tip! When I put my sweatshirts or turtlenecks on, I will normally put my hair completely over my face to avoid my makeup getting on them. but it doesn't work as well when I have to take them off. lol. So I am definitely going to try putting the t-shirt over my face instead! Thanks Tati!

I have been using the T-shirt trick since Tati demonstrated it years ago. I use this hack when I put on AND remove my sweatshirt, turtleneck, etc. Sometimes I would use a large square or rectangular scarf that is machine washable or a shower cap from the Dollar Store. It works so well!

Great tips -- thank you! but I am confused as to the difference between the makeup removing micellar water and the hair cleansing micellar water. Details? THANKS Happy holidays, hope you're doing well, I know it's been a tough year. You rock! (My highest compliment)

Thank you Tati! Love the tips and tricks! Something I enjoy is this: putting on my face primer, letting it dry, then powdering my face with a large brush and loose powder BEFORE foundation! I have dry/combo skin leaning dry and this still just works for me.

I love the robe tip! Works amazing and I m Curvy and always felt self conscious in a robe before! Also, you can cause fungal or even bacterial infections in your nails by applying gel topcoat to regular polish. It does look amazing though! But maybe not worth the risk?

Ciate London used to do a kit years ago that was a gel topcoat to go over their regular nail polish. Because you aren't curing gel to the nail bed. It does come off easy. But you have to let the regular nail polish properly cure before you go in with the gel.

i am a nail tech and that tip is dangerous, you are encapsulating moist that with TIME can lead to fungus infection, please dont risk it! if you still wanna do it, wait at least 24hs before applying the gel to make sure the regular nail polish is 100% dry.

Essie and Sally Hansen make non led gel polish and they actually work very well. Last over a week doing dishes, cleaning, etc. i use to do the LED at home manicure but read that the LED ages your hands terribly so I stopped.

That hair tip was so cool! I went to look it up and unfortunately for me, it is made with sulfates and with bleach blonde hair, and a Brazilian blowout Sulfates are a no no. For everyone else That is a great tip.
