Gadgets! Do they make our lives easier, or are they simply a waste of kitchen cupboard space? In this episode, our chef, James, reviews kitchen gadgets by putting them to the ultimate test to see if theyre worth checking out. We apologise in advance for the poor use of puns. and ben-uendos

7: 3 beer to foam ratio would get you in trouble with weights and measures, definitely tat and a load of bull. I already have multiple timers, don't need an extra one just for eggs. The coffee mug. Hmm, divided for sure. Do I think it's a decent idea? Yes. Vastly overpriced? Also yes. Pasta maker I'd have though as I adore fresh pasta but can't make it to save my life.

1. Pasta maker, clear winner. It's usefull, quick and is actually an upgrade from traditional machines.
2. Coffee mug (i admit i'd put all three gachets on 2, because they're all kinda. eh, I does what it says but has an unnecessary app and is way too expensive.
3. Egg timer, dito mug minus the app
4. Beer foamer, just. why?

least to most useful
egg timer, beer thing, mug and pasta maker.
Im with ebbers and james just time it and be gentle. I dont drink often so i dont know the importance of a head on beer, the mug. its pricey thats really it does as advertised. Pasta maker im willing to find and buy it

James' guess for the weird smart-mug price 59. 99
James' guess for the all in one pasta making machine 59. 99
WHY would you guess this massive appliance that actively does all the hard work of making pasta is the same price as a mug that requires an app and updates!

reply

Not gonna lie, that pasta maker is very tempting. It has premium price, but the convenience is amazing. If it can make all kinds of pasta, then the price would be reasonable. Still very good though.

I want to see more kinds of pasta from the pasta machine, and Id like to see normals making it to see how it goes for them, as it seems to be a timesaver device for average working/non-chef folks.

I absolutely hate how good I've gotten at guessing how much kitchen gadg will cost in a currency I really do not understand. Pounds? Pence? P? I'm so confused!
reply

Something that has always gotten to me is why people want a head on their beer. It's just foam that inconveniences you when you're trying to drink a liquid.

James's sarcasm meter needs to go up along with a dash of sass (and cuteness for when he gets excited about things like the pasta maker.
