Everything You Need To Know About Your Cast Iron Skillet Kate: Most of these recipes actually don't require a cast iron pan and would actually be easier (to clean) in a casserole dish (which you can put in a dishwasher, if you have one) Sautee and sauces are better in stainless steel. Save your cast iron for searing, frying, baking and roasting. Your hands and patience will thank you.

I can't believe I really watched it to the end. I was already a supporter of cast iron use but it's always good to refresh your knowledge, to give time to guides like this in case they have something you don't know yet. and also giving examples of what can be made with these pans was clever, Tasty.

Ive never been fond of cast iron. Theyre great dont get me wrong. Theyre just a pain in the ass to maintain all the time. I have good quality stainless steel pans. They will literally last my entire life, I get a great sear with them, and I dont have to do all this extra work.

People thinking cast iron is 'virtually indestructible' is one of the reasons so many pans end up broken when they're shipped. They're actually pretty fragile and need to be packed like they were made of glass. Especially the thinner vintage pans.

Those small hobs look excellent. I bought a full electric cooker, and nearly always use only a single hob. The grill is used rarely, and the oven is still unused, after 8-or-so years. If this cooker packs-up, I know what I'll use to replace it.

I swear I've already watched this video before. This is why Buzzfeed if trash, they think that taking the same video they had done before and slapping some recipes from another video is a great idea. Where's the creativity.

I have never heard of anyone having trouble using a cast iron skillet unless it was concerns of burning themselves on the handle, oh and the rust problem. :P
