I show you how I made a mushroom fairy house lamp using nothing but a coke plastic bottle, tin foil, paint, hot glue, copper wire and paper clay. This is a great way to teach children about recycling and also stimulate their creativity and imagination. I started by cutting the coke bottle in three pieces. I glued the bottom to the top piece, and made a cone out of the middle piece. As usual I add volume and elements to the house using tin foil. I then cover the foil with paper clay. I draw on the wet clay where the windows will be. Keep in mind that this will be a lamp so it would be nice to have lots of windows all around. You can work in one layer or, if you are a beginner you should work in two layers, one for covering the surface and the second one for the details like wood texture, bark, mushrooms, stones, white dots on the mushroom cap. After the paper clay is dry you can easily add more details using tin foil and hot glue. Let everything dry. For painting I used watercolors and acrylic paint. In the end you can seal the paint using some matte spray varnish. For outdoor use you can apply a few coats of matte yacht varnish all around the clay so the water doesn't touch the clay. I placed some battery LED lights under the house and inside the mushroom cap. I also placed an LED that comes out near the door as an outside light. I recommend you use soft lights that will gently illuminate your windows so it looks like a real house. DON'T USE HOT LIGHTS!

These are gorgeous and they are, like you say, a great way to encourage recycling of material into lovely ornamental tems which would make great presents for kids to give at Christmas or whatever holidays where presents are given. I love anything that encourages recycling or upcycling of stuff that would otherwise be in landfill sites. I subbed because we all should be doing our bit.

I absolutely love your chanel! I cannot believe ive only just discovered it. What a wonderful and creative use of recycled materials, finally have a use for all those plastic bottles rather than putting them in the recycling bin. You are an inspiration, and deserve waaaaaay more followers than you have
