I show you how I made a roly-poly Santa Claus for my Christmas decorations. I used a ball, a plastic bottle, tin foil, paint, hot glue and paper clay (I used Das modelling material ) I start by taping the ball to a scotch tape roll. Then I tape tin foil to the ball making Santa's beard and hands. I then cover everything with paper clay. I let it dry and deflate the ball and take it out. I also take out any tin foil I have used. It needs to be as light as possible. Using tin foil and a plastic bottle I make the basic shape for the Santa's head and add details like the nose, mustache, and hat. I cover the head with paper clay. While wet I model the nose, cheeks, eyes and mustache. Let everything dry. I used some stones to add weight at the bottom so it stands up right and balances when pushed. Now you can paint it in the desired colors. I used watercolors and acrylics. I usually start with the basic plain colors then I add some shades using only watercolors. In the end I add some lights to the piece using acrylics (the acrylic bright colors are more intense than watercolors. In the end you can seal the paint using some matte spray varnish Kay: You do amazing work! I noticed in the comments you have never mentioned the size of the ball. Could you please tell the size of it, and where you purchase it?
