I show you how I made a fairy house inn lamp using two coke plastic bottles, tin foil, paint, hot glue and paper clay. This is a great way to teach children about recycling and also stimulate their creativity and imagination. I got asked if I ever draw the fairy house first, or if I make it up as I go along. In this video I decided to include the sketch I made for the fairy house. I usually go to work having a general idea of what I'm about to create. Knowing exactly the materials and the plastic bottles I'm about to use, I can draw the basic shape of the house. After I have the sketch of the fairy house ready, I start cutting. I first cut the small 0, 5 liters coke plastic bottle in two pieces and the big 2, 5 liters coke plastic bottle in three pieces. I glued the pieces together in a crooked way. Next step is to build the rest of the house using tin foil and hot glue. This is a fast way to achieve a basic volume that will be the base for our paper clay. Using tin foil I built the roof cones, the chimney the door arch and the small roof above the entrance. I also built the stairs this way. You should now have the general shape of your fairy house. Cover everything with paper clay. You should work in two layers, one for covering the surface and the second one for the details like windows, door, wood texture, bark, mushrooms, door steps, roof tiles. When making the windows keep in mind it will be a lamp so you should draw as many windows as you can so the light will come out nicely. After the paper clay is dry you can easily add more details like I did for some of the windows. The roof tiles should be placed starting from the bottom of the roof and working your way up. Let everything dry. I used watercolors and acrylic paint for painting because I like working in layers and be able to change if I don't like the way it looks. In the end you can seal the paint using some matte spray varnish. I placed some battery LED lights under the house. I recommend you use soft lights that will gently illuminate your windows so it looks like a real house. DON'T USE HOT LIGHTS!

I wish I could describe how I feel when I watch your creations but I cant. Its way more than words can describe but I would try explaining by saying that its pure joy and therapy for the soul! You have such an amazing gift, thank you so much for sharing and spreading beauty!

Do you ever bake your clay after? Just wondering if I can bake polymer clay if I have plastic inside of it. If you dont bake it, what type of light you use inside? Again, wondering if I can use a real lamp and not melt the plastic bottle! Thanks!

. Hello Diana, I wanted to know what colors you use. I use acrylics but the color is very transparent and smears are visible, the painting is terrible. I really like your work good luck. Thank.
