Come work with me as a flower photographer and writer! In this cut flower gardening video, we’re taking a garden tour of my friend’s dahlia farm! Her flower garden is in her backyard, and she sells dahlias at a roadside stand. We work together growing Longfield Gardens bulbs and tubers. I grow their spring bulbs, lilies, and gladiolus. My friend grows their dahlias. We document plant sizes, heights, forms, garden performance, and vase life and I use that information for blogs, articles, and website descriptions. I love working as a floral photographer! Read my blog here -

What a delightful video, thank you so much for taking the time to film these gorgeous dahlias for us! I think I may put in a separate dahlia garden. Mine are a mess mixed in with my perennials and staking is such a chore even though I prune them early. I’m in 6b like I believe you are, and I don’t dig mine up in the fall. I mulch heavily with leaves and most come back. I love Longfield flowers! I have a large bulb order to install soon and I’d like to know when/if they take dahlia pre-orders. I’ve been ordering mine from other sources.

Danielle, what a dream job for you and how lucky is Longfield to have you and your friend Rebecca share your talents. Perfection.
Loved seeing the stunning dahlias and how you show them to their best.
I’m Sandra, Sondra, mostly Sandi. A flower with my name a must do.
Gracie’s presence always a joy for me. Rocky even made an appearance. Thank you again for making my day with it all. Many blessings. Sandi aka Sondra/Sandra

Good Morning Danielle, oh my goodness! What a beautiful video and what a dream job! What a blessing to have your passion turned into your profession. Now the dahlias - oh my they are ALL GORGEOUS! I’m in zone 9b (Central California) and I personally have not had luck with dahlias. But I don’t want to give up. so which one do you think I should give a try

Wow Danielle, I ordered from Longfield gardens for the first time last week! I wonder if the pictures I perused on-line were photographed by you They were the only grower that would ship alliums to Washington state. They supply Costco but my Costco was very picked through by the time I got there. Your job sounds so fun and cool.

My word, this was a stunning video. I have to watch it again! My teenage daughter loves flowers, can anyone recommend a career path in flowers that will provide an income that she could eventually support her dreams of owning her own home with a large yard full of flowers and pets I want to encourage her passions! Thanks

So beautiful Danielle! Even though the dahlias are not perfect after using them to shoot, I couldn't part with them either. They are stunning, and the way you arranged them on your fireplace mantle is lovely. I was wondering if you have a link for your candles. They really create a nice ambiance in your book nook!

It was so nice to see all those dahlias. They are so beautiful. I bought three Dahlia’s since last spring and it seems I overwatered them and they all got fungus. Maybe you can use some floral water tubes for your dahlias so you take them out of water so they don’t look dehydrated for your photos.

Stunning varieties Danielle! I noted Bacardi and american dawn for next year. Each year I say I won't do them again because of the work involved in winter storing etc. and sometimes takes forever to bloom but then in October I'm cutting amazing flowers marvelling at them. I repeat it all again

I had no idea you had a full time job outside of your own garden Danielle! Now I'm even more amazed at what you get done in a day and a week! How do you get it all done What amazingly beautiful dalhia's you shared with us! I think my most favorite was the Bahama Mama!

wished there was a love button. I never realized what you did for work. what an amazing job. thank you for sharing the gardens full of beautiful dahlias. one question. do you have to dig and store the bulbs or are they left in the ground for year to year.
reply

Just beautiful, and so healthy. Have any of these named varieties been available thru Costco, or are they future varieties being selected for the website I would love to be able to purchase the maroon varieties locally at my favorite store.

I am glad you found your path. What I particularly like about LG is that their bulbs/tubers/corms are good quality, and being available at Costco, much more affordable - close to volume pricing but without having to commit to the volume

Wow! This was a great video. I always thought dahlias were the diva of flowers but I'm rethinking that idea. Thanks for sharing your other job with us. How marvelous is that job!
