2 Ways to KEEP You Drawing EVERYDAY - Best Advice SchaeferArt
video description
During the first few days of my drawing practice, I realized how bad my drawings were. And began feeling discouraged when I looked back at illustrations that my favorite artist drew. But then I realized that I'm comparing my mere few days practice, to their years worth of experience. And these great artists are the people who are able to push through those feelings of discourage and keep learning as hard as they can. -Get out of your comfort zone, you're never going to improve- is probably the thoughts that I keep in mind when I'm drawing, if my drawing came out horrible, that means I'm making a mistake somewhere, and I NEED to make said mistake, that's how I was able to improve. I've been drawing for only 3 months now, but during those time I was able to see me making significant progress from not staying in my comfort zone, and I'm excited to see how I will improve from now on. It really is satisfying to see yourself improve on art.

yeah right! the only compass that we have biologicaly, the most advanced, rapresents our force from which we humans create. I must ignore it? have you lost your mind? im not a machine. respect at least that. when i dont feel like doing, i simply dont. simply means my body and mind needs rest, otherwise depressions follow. ONLY WHEN YOU DO THINGS AND ITS FUNNY, NEW, INTERESTING BECOMES POWERFUL. ORIGINAL CREATIVITY. BE POWERFUL AS YOU TRULY ARE. not from a puddle of dirt and being tired. you are not a slave, so dont act like one. but from the real interest and enthusiasm, like a child. what you just described is a very sad, unfulfilling life style.

I live in a senior living community that has an 'art' class. Teacher is 92 year old artist. Students range from 72 (me - 95 yrs. In our class room we have a large screen t. v. wall mounted. I am going to ask staff if they can set up my laptop and play your video. Since our teacher is inspiring us to 'just draw' and have fun, I think your video came at the right time. Our assignment for this week is 'contour' drawing. FUN! Thank you Schaefer for your knowledge, time and sharing your passion. Namaste my friend.

i keep on going in art even if i feel like i want to give up on it simply because i absolutely hate how slow my progress is. like, my improvement in art is so slow, that it's barely noticeable, like a snail crossing a frozen ocean. yet i keep at it because i know i will reach the level of pro one day. the road is going to be harsh, but there's no other way than forward. :)

The thing that keeps me going every day is just the thought of -you could be this good- and i set in pretty unreachable goals for my self because it makes me pay attention to every that i am learning so that one day i maybe can reach that unrealistic goal

If you don't feel like doing something, you should not be doing that. But, at the same time, you have to ask yourself on a daily basis what you would want to do today. Just ask yourself and you will be surprised!

Commitment rather than motivation. I like that. Not only can I apply this to my daily art practice, but my detestable physical exercise that I need to do every day, lol.

I feel like I need to come back to this video often! It puts into words what I feel so well, and I'm not just talking about motivation in drawing, but life in general.
