Stan and Marshall talk about adopting good -art parents- - the artists that inspire you and who will influence your style and technique. A caller asks how to establish a daily drawing routine that he can stick with. Marshall likes to Netflix and Chill with a good Coen Brothers film

Where should I look for art parents? Where to find art parents? Is there any database/archive, blogs, website, books etc that I can go through. I mean how to find artists that you like. I know this question sounds dumb and obvious to some but to be honest I only have one art parent like virtually, I just love his work he is Orlando Arocena aka Mexifunk but I really need to look for more art parents so that I can explore and make my artworks more unique. Please do comment I really need advice. Thanks Stan and the whole Proko team love you guys, keep rocking!

Late to the party. Brilliant stuff. And so, so depressing. I'm well into my art career and no longer freelance. I have a 9-5 to pay the bills and I feel like if I had these youTube resources, I would still be doing freelance and be so much farther along. I still do art on the side and I'm. okay artist. I really didn't have -art parents-. I had an art village. A mish mash of loves. I never really studied one or three artists so in-depth-ly that it would count as an art parent. My style happened along the way. I never worried about my style.
sigh.

hello! I am a beginner artist,
it's been 3 months I think when I started to draw,
Now I could say that I am able to draw decent skulls, using ballpen,
Actually, before watching this video, I do not have any idea about Art Parents etc,
I want to have Art Parents, that will help me improve my drawing and style,
I am using pencil and ballpen only in art, can you please suggest me some Artist?

Boris Vallejo IS NOT a rip off of Frazetta, one thing among many is that Frazetta didnt often work from photographs.
Another very obvious difference is in style more than anything else, Boris work is almost photo real & deliberatly to & less. cartoony. its true there are small similarity's, but the figures are posed very differerently from one Artist to the other

I have recently been looking at the book -The Dinosaurs- by William Stout. and when you mention the action items of doing your own thing in someone else's style, that is exactly what William Stout did in his book. He has Mucha dinosaurs, Rackham dinosaurs, even a Remington dinosaur I think. It's super fun to see.

There was one line Stan started but did not get to finish - -they will get the cheap tricks that he uses- when talking about Leyendecker. I am a beginner so I did not get it at all - anyone else knows what Stan was about to say? Like, what cheap tricks as those looked awesome to me: o

Disagree. That beginners style is kinda like the care free mind of a child before they're worried about judgment. That -style- is fragile, and is what separates them from others. I hate when I hear that because I know so many people who don't even try because of that notion. Sorry

This guy thinks he knows everything and he thinks he's so great. Seen your work, you're not even very good. You should listen more and stop interrupting someone who is better than you and has a ton of more experience.

How did you two guys meet? You have such different personalities but your chemistry together is incredible and your banter is like you've been friends for lifetimes. :-) And you're such both great listeners.

So amazing! I just recently bought a book on Albrecht Durer! Found his art a while ago and there is something about his art which I just love. Another great show, thank you so much, long may it continue!
