That discussion of the packing the xbox reminded me of why I started spending so much more time drawing. I was extremely physically active, being very good at sports was a very large part of my identity. Then I tore my ACL. That's a devastating injury, could mean I would never get to the my previous level of play ever again. As I lay in bed unable to do anything after surgery, I got angry that my whole identity was wrapped in my physicality, and if I couldn't be great with my legs, I was going to be great with my hands. I think everybody needs a catalyst. What separates greatness from mediocrity is how early the catalyst comes, and how much it means, in my opinion.

As a classically trained musician, I absolutely can't listen to instrumental music and focus as well. I think once you're trained to recognize harmonic and melodic relationships, and identify rhythms and such, it becomes as mentally distracting as lyrical music. I try to do at least half of my work without music, and I also like binaural beats to block out noise (I don't think they do anything, I just like them)

9: 47 Maybe for Proko 2. 0, a feature could be the ability for users to upvote/rate crittiques that way the best advice would rise to the top. If not, maybe allowing moderators to pin certain crittques so that the best ones are highlighted. Another approach maybe to give a small test to users that they must pass in order to write crittques. Idk if any of these would work, but that may fix the bad crittique problem

Chronic lateness is passive aggressive usually? Where is the data to support that? It's passive aggressive if the person is doing it to cause pain to someone, but many chronically late people (EDIT: = most chronically late people) have no such intent, conscious or -unconscious-. I am post grad psych and I call out baseless claims when I come across them. I Liked the rest of the content though guys!

When I heard about separating out a work place in order to focus at work, I was drawing on my bed as I can't afford a better place for an extra desk.
ButI think it is so true,
beocz now I am distracted by the need to lay down and cry as that is what I normally do in my bed rather than drawing. (Part time character artist living in an everything overpriced Asia city)

Hey Marshall and Stan - I have a digital draftsman working in the industry for many years but there is one thing, in particular, is TEACHING saying that I have taught people in past but there is always a wearied feeling of -scary ness- while teaching, still I want to know how to think while you teach and keep your mind calm.
Thank you, I Love these podcasts

This -I'll do my dishes when/if I have time for it- system of task management is gonna be a recipe for depression for some people. If you know you're the kind of person who needs a clean and ordered space in order to have a clean and ordered mind, maybe take care of that stuff first and then reward yourself with art time.

so. my wishlist for season 2: could you try to lower the size of ur audio podcasts? they're usually double the size of the other podcasts im listening to. and i really like to listen to y'all. but sometimes can't really afford to (especially this episode)

the thing marshal was talking about at around the 30min mark, are there discords that would serve the same purpose? some people are more productive when working around people who are also working

Hey Guys!
I love the videos, always informative and inspiring, I notice that you tend to give a lot of great book titles to read, and I was wondering if someone created a giant list of them?
