The key in the drawing about dreams they speak of at around 29: 45 reminds me of a story about Salvador Dali, who apparently would sometimes attempt to fall asleep in an armchair - holding a key in one hand positioned above a small dinner plate on the floor. As he would drift off his grip would relax and the key would fall, landing on the plate below and making just enough noise to stir him from sleep but not enough to wake up completely. The objective would be to wake up into that strange dreamlike state you-ve probably experienced waking up in the middle of the night, or falling asleep, where one is awake but the mind still lingers somewhat in the dream world. It-s called the hypnagogic state, where it is common to experience visual or aural hallucinations while being partially awake - and is purportedly where Dali and other Surrealist painters would sometimes draw inspiration from. Anyways that-s kinda what I thought about when I saw the drawing at first. Cool stuff: )

Joseph Campbell wrote that a myth that needs explaining isn't working. This is true also for an allegorical painting or drawing. A myth or an allegory invites you to look inside yourself and find an interpretation that works. In this way, one discovers oneself. Please don't misunderstand me, Stephen Bauman's pointing out things like one head's eyes are dreaming while the other head's eyes are open is excellent-this makes the viewer aware that there are things to explore within one's head.

Oh this is going to get very confusing in the art world. I follow Stefen Baumann here on YouTube, but he focuses on oil painting and teaching. Two different artists. two VERY similar names. Future art students and art historians. you've got your work cut out if either (or both) of them end up in a future art history book lol

Stefan with three thousand words of big nine-letter blah-blah blah. Take away: I need to put more detail into the shadows. -Ivy league glut- at its best. Never actually talked about his studio, just all the crap IN it. get Kopenski in there to slam him down to our level?

Can anyone please tell me about the panels that he uses. I am really struggling finding those, if anyone could help and just tell me that material or what board is that it would be such a great help.
