Illustrator and concept designer Steven Zapata gives a demonstration on how he draws in graphite from imagination! Using a harpy from -Dante-s Inferno- as his subject, he-ll walk you through his process from the materials he uses to adding intricate and detailed textures. Throughout the demo you-ll also get to see how he establishes the initial gesture and transitions from sketching to rendering to creating unique forms

This is what I'm practicing now, I wish that the younger me (now 40. Would have gone to College for art. I had a full scholarship to the Maine College of Arts, when I was a sophomore in High school. I've been working as a plumber for the family business for the better part of 20yrs. In 2017, my first and only child passed away at the age of 4. So now I'm in the middle of a mid-life crisis. And would love to draw for a living

i'm trying to learn how to draw. it would be nice if i was actually interested. i'm hoping it's like learning a new game. first the rules, the boring part. then, once i learn how to play the game, it becomes interesting. i hope.
thanks for the lesson.

Awesome render. I've really learnt a lot about shading and lighting techniques from simply erasing. Plenty of knowledge. I'm gonna start practicing this and be revisiting this video over and over. Good Stuff!

I'm sorry sir, I just started this video and I'm wondering what the actual secret to this technique? How do I actually draw any kind of form? Is there a guide on what something should be made of?

this is a Level 10 art tutorial for imagination.
if you're still at the learning stage, use REFERENCES for every part in those steps.

Nice video but, the only thing i wanted to know is how you even conceive these drawings, like how do you put your thoughts on paper O_O

Cool. Why do monsters always look like decrepit old people? I vote for some infant monsters. Getting old is hard enough. lol
