Knight Zhang presents an introduction to character costume design. In this lesson you-ll learn what your character-s clothing conveys about their backstory, how different design elements contribute to your character-s overall design and personality, and the steps Knight goes through when designing a character from scratch with tips on how you can apply her process to your work! Knight-s work has been influential on many game projects including big titles like Dota 2. If you-d like to learn more about her and her work, Marshall and I interviewed her on a previous Draftsmen episode

i like you artistic style, but i have a suggestion. looking at your roller girl with those big ancles, i have that feeling that if it were real this wouldnt be functional, or it would be tough on user of that prostethics. the thing is, thos reckets are so bulky that the phisicly obstruct for legs to get closer to each other. and that would eventually lead to a muscle tention and pain in hips and lower part of the back.
its just me though, i myself prefer realistic and functional style for my characters. like i prefer to think of a way for a fantasy knight's armor to be as functional as it can with modern knowledge added to the design. thats why i do mostly the same as you i look up tons of refferences for heavy and meadium armors, hundreads of different types of medieval weapons from all over the world. i also experiment in making different types of materials, like using gems or cutting stones as raw materials for weapons, skins and bones of mythical beasts as natural parts of the outfit.
though i stopped drawing some time ago, i keep imagining those desighns in my head and adjusting them. since those designs are mostly for characters in my own stories.

When I design a character I think of the backstory and the reason the character looks the way they do before my pencil even hits the paper. Like one of my characters who started as a wild man who wears the skull of a wolf on his face, taking place of his real face since he has amnesia and living a cave with no reflective surfaces, and then after he gets his memories back he kind of mixes his just a skull and a pelt look with a more civilized knight look ending up looking like a badass hunter with two separate fighting styles and personalities

I listened with great inspiration, although I must admit that sometimes I did not listen because I was so delighted with how beautiful you draw and how you care for every detail. So, so beautiful and inspiring.

Gotta listen to this and see if I get better
I learned some stuff, not that I'll use it that much since my character is deceptive, but maybe some accessories could hint to his deceptive behaviour
