The humble peperomia plant is easy to grow and even easier to propagate! In this peperomia care video we'll walk through how to propagate peperomia from start to finish, using two methods: stem-tip cuttings and leaf-petiole cuttings. If you want fast success and easy rooting, go with a stem tip cutting. This method works for all varieties: peperomia obtusifolia, peperomia prostrata, peperomia caperata, etc. It's an easy way to buy one plant and multiply it!

Leaf cuttings will definitely produce new growths. But you gonna have to wait in like forever, like 3-4 months forever to see new growth coming from each cutting When I first started doing Peperomia propagation using leaf cutting I just dont have the patience. But now I have to make sure that Im propagating at least a hundred leaves of different Peperomia just so itll worth it when they all showing growths, again in 3-4 months. But I gotta say, there are Peperomias (like rubella, albovittata) that can produce new growth in a month sometimes less than a month using leaf cuttings.

The leaves do make new growth! I did water propagation in a little cup, with only the end inserted. I changed the water every few days until it had nice roots and then I planted it into some soil. It took a good while for me, but I had some extenuating circumstances that kept it from getting a proper home. Once I got a light for it, I began seeing growth and ever since it has just taken off with sprouting new growth around it. By far, the coolest thing ever!

What about these leaf cuttings? They sure do produce roots, but did they grow into full plants? I had a leaf that fell off and I rooted it and planted it. That was exactly one year ago. It still is a leaf rooted in soil, it's alive and firm, no no other leaflets are coming out of it, and it doesn't seem to produce any new growth, it's just stuck there. I was wondering it anybody else had that experience.

I took a cutting with stem still on it and it's grown roots at the same rates as my cuttings without the stem.
I also took cuttings from a very young peperomia because someone in my house dumped cleaner into it and it was dying. But the cuttings are doing great in a plastic container of fairly wet sphagnum moss in a shaded area outside.

Watching you talk about sterilizing stuff and going the extra mile in some aspects when it comes to your plants makes me feel like a butthole gardener. My method is if it's not hardy enough to thrive through the shock of insert whatever here then they can either die or learn to put up with it!

I know this is old but thanks for this! Its very helpful. Also I would love to know if you made your potting station or bought it like that? I'm guessing you made it! It's so clever! Whenever I pot up my plants I make a mess & so much soil is wasted. I will have to make something like this!

the problem with leaf propagation of variegated peperomia obtusifolia is that the babies do not come up in vatiegated version. that happened with me. but a good thing is with leaf propagation you can get more than one baby plant. more than even 4 new baby plants if you wish to separate!

My PO just broke off. the stem is dark. And it gets darker towards the bottom by the soil. Like, it just broke off at the stem where it meets the soil.
I'm pissed. It took no effort to break off and I hope I can propagate somehow. I'm still new to plants, so I hope this goes well.

Why is my peperomia pixie lime mother plant kindof wilting on the stems which I've cut from? The stems grt soft and almodt kind of black on some parts losing leaves, It was so healthy before I cut it! I tried cutting it both on the node and between nodes, happened both ways.

I have some cutters ) that are pretty similar but i have a confession: i got them at dollar tree (literally everything is a dollar) and i keep them clean and disinfected and dude they work soooo well! Also they have cute big plastic pots for a dollar like huh

You're so well-spoken and the production quality on your videos is fantastic! I have a Red Ripple Peperomia which seems to grow quite a bit differently than the one in this video - only one leaf per stem. What's the best way to propagate my plant?

Any information on senecio ballyi propagating? I have this very leggy plant with the most beautiful leaves but I have found little information on it anywhere. Took me over a year to figure out what it was by contacting the grower.

Hi! Great video. Thanks for sharing your tips! I love my peperomia plant, so this was helpful to give me confidence in trimming back my plant. I do have one question. Did it sprout new growth where you cut on the mother plant?
reply

I honestly never thought of propagating my peperomia but 2 of the leaves fell off and when I was moving the pot I noticed they were laying in the soil facing up with roots growing upwards lol so it's really that easy!

Not sure if I missed it, but how long did it end up taking for the leaf cutting to root? My peperomia got knocked over and lost a few leaves, so I'm trying propagating for the first time! Really hoping it works!
