We would use old awls and needles used by sailors, they are quite strong. Plus, elderly folks might be able to wrap the jute or cut things and teach younger folks. Very often people can find just small amounts of something and save it up! At 6 minutes or so in, she is working on a rug with a round piece of denim. You do not have to use a glue gun here, you can also stitch this. Denim backed rugs last a long time, and can often be repaired if stitching comes loose. I do not know how well a glue gun works, though.

The rug at 7: 40 is actually being crocheted but without a regular crochet hook. I use old sheets cut into one really long strip, you get a bigger rug that doesn't shrink and you can just toss in the washer to clean. If you had grandparents from the Depression you already know how to do a lot of these!

These projects take to long. I like do-it-yourself projects that you can do and repurpose stuff with but when it comes to tedious stuff like that it's a no-go. Kudos to the person that has the patience for this.

a reasonable video spoilt by that awful sound track. I wouldn t call it music! there is no need for any sound at all. But if it has to be used, a quieter one would be better.

Not old, used clothes, thought I was going to see old leggings, tee shirts, etc being used for these projects. At least a pair of jeans were reused.
