Six day solo canoe fishing trip in Algonquin Park, May 6, 2015 Solo Canoe Trip: Tim River Tim Lake - Rosebary Lake - Latour Creek - Loontail Creek - Nipissing River Remona Lake - Whiskey Jack Lake - Robinson Lake - Burntroot Lake Longer Lake - Tim River - Longbow Lake - Tim Lake May 6 to 11, 2015 After planning this trip last fall and choosing my dates based on historical ice-out dates in Algonquin Provincial Park, I was extremely anxious watching the weather in April and reading the Parks statement that the backcountry would remain closed until May 8th. But, finally on May 3rd(ish, the weather changed, the ice went out and the permit offices were open for business. I was ready to go on my first solo trip of the season

Catch and release should be stopped. Only too small in size fishes should be released. New scientific studies say that the fish do feel pain and at least 20 % of the released fish dies later from the stress and wounds, mortality rate is probably even higher because it's hard to know how many fish actually die later (can take days or weeks.

Having started at least 1 interior canoe/camping trip in Algonquin Park from all access points, this is one of my favourite fishing trips I have done when it comes to fishing speckled trout. I have always said the Tim River should renamed The Winding Tim River. lol

Shawn, great video. i liked better than the short version. you're a soft spoken guy and it is difficult for an old guy like me to hear what you are saying but this is not a criticism, just sayin'. thanks for taking the time to post your videos. martin.

OMG that Trout was fricking unforgettable, and when you inferred its to much and released that beautiful creature my respect for you accumulated. Good man, Shawn the warrior. Your Boy Kekoa.

Great Video Shawn! I've wanted to do a route that involved both the Tim and Nipissing Rivers, your video has only confirmed for me that I indeed must do this.

Shawn, what's the portage yoke setup you are using? Never saw one like that. That could be the answer to my prayers. I can't carry a canoe with the pack I use!

Awesome film, nice fish eh. This route looks fun, have you tried it later in the season or you reckon it would be too many lift overs to keep it enjoyable?

Shawn you where rough getting the hook out of the fishes mouth the big fish and we couldn't hear you talking due to the music to loud but great video

Decent video but could have done without all the added background wildlife sounds. It took away from the authenticity and almost made it laughable.

Awesome video man! I'm heading out to Algonquin may 12. Cannot wait. What kinda bait would be best in your opinion for brook trout?
