Anytime you are messing with vinumus snakes like that one there just lay it down and go walk around and look in the trees for a three to four foot long forked limb and cut it out of the tree and a couple inches above the forks and then go back to the snake and pin its head to the ground and hold it there and pull the hook back out of it and then while your holding its head down there put as much distance between you and it and release it and just walk away from it then too I've done it a many of a times around here where I live at never had any problems about doing it too enjoy watching your vedios here and have a good day and bs and bc today too

Snakes do have spines. But it is a common misconception so no need to rip into the poor guy. There is no need to rip into Jordon for not calling animal control, either. Yes he could have called but this doesn't happen to much. Also the snake would be in discomfort however he would have caught the hook on shrubbery and it would have come out of his body without hurting him any further. Not a snake expert though but neither is any of these guys. They were brave enough to even attempt to help the poor thing, some are scared of them but I love them

WSED: Wild Snakes: Education and Discussion is a great group on facebook to learn more about snakes. Remember: You cannot tell from eyes You cannot tell from swimming behavior Learn the venomous snakes in your range (Southern US has 6 or so) Timber Rattlesnake, Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake, Pygmy Rattlesnake, Coral, Copperhead, Cottonmouth. Learning these and things like labial bars for Nerodia sp. id can help go a long way.

Awww, so I know snakes really well, so I was pretty sure this was just a water snake. but he image he found threw me off. I found the exact same image comes up when you google search water moccasin, but the caption for the photo is A northern water snake, above, can be mistaken for a water moccasin. I don't blame him at all for thinking it was a venomous snake, just an unfortunate aspect of google image search!

They do have a spine lol. Thats pretty much all the they have spine, ribs and skull. You have to use a branch with a Y shape at the end and pin his head to the ground then grab at the base of his head. Then once he's controlled remove the hook. I've been in this situation before. Cottonmouths have a nasty temperament but overall are easy to handle because they're small
