MONSTER- BLACK GROUPER Catch Clean & Cook - Bluegabe

We departed from Rudy Inlet in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Left very early in morning.
Oh and just want to mention that it was the maiden voyage for the boat. (both father and son had purchased boat new.
We traveled about 30-40 miles out to the gulf stream which was our destination, stopping alone the way to fish some old wreaks.
When we finally got out there we had been fishing for about a half hour and saw a helicopter flying overhead. They continued about maybe 300 yards off our port side and were hoovering above the water about 15-20 feet when all of a sudden we saw two swimmers jump out of helicopter.
The helicopter left the area while swimmers were still in the water. Swimmers did not have scuba tanks on, just fins, mask and I'm sure some type of floatation.
The helicopter returned about 30 minutes later and picked the swimmers from the water. Needless to say this started a very interesting conversation among everyone on board.
Everyone had their owe opinion of what we just witnessed. I believe that the swimmers were military (We have several navel military bases in the area) and were doing training exercises.
Either way it was a cool experience.

One day working the boat with the crane from our oil platform about 100 miles offshore coast of Louisiana, a dolphin had a big amber jack by the tale and I believe was just taking pleasure in killing this big AJ. It was bizarre and awesome. I just stopped crane ops and me and the boat captain just watched it for a while. See a lot of cool stuff out there. I caught two scamp groupers that were both records. Around 40 lbs. could hardly identify them due to how they looked that large. The little streamers off their fins grow really long. Many stories when you live in the middle of the gulf.

100 miles out of Destin about 20 years ago we saw something in the distance and we thought it was a marlin sunning and we got rigged up to go after him then as we got close our marlin turned into the biggest hammerhead any of us have ever seen! We pulled the teasers right over him. There was lots of shark on both sides of the boat. We were in a 52' fishing boat. Then on the way in a little finch came flying up and landed in my hand. He rode almost all the way in. He drank some water and then flew away

Mr bluegabe I hope you're doing fine today sir my name is David I used to commercial fish in Alaska gulf of Alaska and the Bering Sea I was probably about 60 MI off St Matthews island in the Bering Sea almost right on the international date line we seen a ice flow we were fishing opie's and there was a huge walrus don't know how many pounds the walrus sitting right on the ice flow never seen one before like that out in the middle of the Bering Sea

Some porpoises came by and hassled me for a few minutes for having my mackerel jigs in, and then two of them leapt up from the rear, just next to the running motor (which was only trolling on the calm day. One of them squeaked as if to ask for food, and the other turned slightly and looked me in the eyes and said: One day you will catch groupers.

Commercial grouper spearing over the years, I-ve had three sharks open their mouth and try to bite me. One tiger, one sand tiger and one bull. Usually this happens with a large stringer full. The sand tiger tried to bite me several times. He ended up dead from a tip getting shoved in behind his gills. Luckily it pulled out and I didn-t lose the shaft. Seen a couple white sharks and some right whales.

We were out on an all night charter fishing party boat, out of Port Canaveral. Having a great time, the trip that got me hooked on fishing! I got a Mahi and knocked on my ass lol, almost 2 months after I had our son and right before our 1st anniversary.
We saw a manta ray and a huge bunch of flying fish. I wished we had a camera with us. Definitely a night to remember -

I have caught grouper in deep water first mate came by ask who wants to rent electric real I told him electric real was for sissy after 3 groupers i went and ask if this sissy could rent the electric real. Also have never seen a pink reel. And by the time you get grouper up from deep water they have a younger like a cow and it was sticking out.
