British Columbia is so beautiful and a true mecca for trout anglers. In this special video from 2002, Colin McKeown travels to the small town of Fernie to fly fish for wild Cutthroat Trout on some of the local rivers. It is September and an ideal time for dry fly fishing for cutties. Colin is guided by Gerry Frederick owner of Rocky Mountain Angler Guide Service based out of Cranbrook BC. Gerry provides excellent information on flies, dry fly presentation techniques and info on the St. Marys River (where they were drift boat fishing Farmer: I-m with you on elk hair caddis. Seems like that pattern works in all waters. I also find the humpy pattern is pretty versatile. I particularly like the foam body version as it floats well without constant drying and dressing. I fish a tail water that is full of 12-14- cutthroat and catching them on the surface is an absolute blast! Thanks for the entertaining video. I can-t wait for late summer to go after the cutties!
