Learn game development by creating a Pokemon clone game using Lua and L-VE2D. The principles you learn can apply to any programming language. This beginner's course teaches the foundations of game development. This video is lecture 7 of CS50's Intro to Game Development from Harvard University. Check out the full course playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWKjhJtqVAbluXJKKbCIb4xd7fcRkpzoz -https://docs.cs50.net/ocw/games/assignments/7/assignment7.html --Contents

cool how people who don't know crap about programming wanna praise this course. yeah, cuz you would know with your 0 seconds of experience. watch this series and go make a game then. be the first person to ever make a commercial game with lua; go ahead. take your time.
fukn youtube. the blind leading the blind out here. if this is a real harvard course, it's just to get non-programmers (gamers) interested in programming by teaching them in the highest-possible level and pretty much lie, imo. these 'instructors' couldn't get a job programming, so they teach idiots and kids with rich parents instead? idk, whatever. have fun changing careers after you find out what programming really is. game development is pretty easy; not LUA or python easy; but just use a game engine made by real programmers and shove your grappy assets into it. done. wonder why steam has such a huge influx of crappy indie games? lol... idk; by idiots.

very bad practice to start a presentation with -it was released in 1997 (I think)- you immediately discredit yourself by saying things like -I think- and -I believe- because how would you not be 100% certain of the information in the introduction of your presentation. I'm sure you said -I think- to make it appear that you did not memorize that year to create the illusion that you were recalling this memory from a back store of your brain, but you shouldn't be doing that in your intro. That tool should be implemented halfway through your presentation or even at the end.

Videos like this are almost useless. Why? Because it is used to show you it can be done, and not how to do it. Because nobody looks at this and says -I'm going to copy this exactly and learn what's in it-

Could I get sued if I were to use similar elements to this but used pokemon that were designed by me. Would the Poke Centers, tall grass, some kinda gym leader system be too similar?

Great video! I used to play many OG Pokemon games on Nintendo handhelds and it was thrilling to see the underlying concepts and logic laid out for the games. :)

I find it crazy how young this guy is and he knows so much about. Idk just mind blowing to me that programmers are becoming younger and younger
