the biggest question i need answered (of anything) is... will nvidia still honour the warranty on their founders edition here in the uk if i have waterblocked the card? assuming that i have myself done a good enough high quality job reassembling the card back to stock and replacing with the correct oem tim and pads etc? because this is exactly what evga would permit allow customers to do before you guys all pushed them out of being able to operate in this industry as an aib partner. and it was actually publically made crystal clear by evga in their warranty. with no ambiuity or guesswork inolved... so you gamers nexus. you have advocated for having as clear as possible warranty terms before. can you please raise this topic and ask nvidia to better clarify this point? because every year literally thousands upon thousands of us are waterblocking these nvidia founders edition cards for our systems. and it really matters when you are spending so much money on a single item (over 1000) that it could fail and then become worth 0. which is a huge chunk of change to have nvidia turn around and refuse warranty on merely on some technicality loophole basis. please help to try and clear this up if you can. many thanks

That was really interesting, a nice question for nvidia engineers would be why they didn't limit more the power consumption target of the rtx 4090. In the der8auer review it is said that with a max of 5-10% performance lost you could reduce the power consumption at 60% , which would be incredible considering that the card would still be a lot stronger than the 3090, and that would break the trend of raising the power consumption with every gen. The idea of a new gen stronger than the last gen by a significative amount , while consuming the exact or less power would be a nice declaration of how big are the improvements and the innovation of a new technology.

well, let me imagine that i didn't hear what that man said in the last five minutes about issues of atx powersupplies or whatever, can someone tell me the benefit about 2x8=16pins and 12+4(2)=16(14)..., sensitively i did not understand the point of this some sort of innovation still there is only 6 pins flowing 12v, same as 2x8pins classic not sensitive connectors.
upd.guess this connector has any point only when someone is too damn poor for buying propper powersupply with affordable avg cables, but god lord this thing costs not even less that wing of airbus...lol

Just to add to the masses; these videos are top of the line. I hope nVidia, Intel, AMD and whoever else joins in the future keep doing these cause nobody cares about marketing shit. This is much better than everything else. Even me, with a 3090 happy and no plans on upgrading, got a bit tingly thinking the new 4090 was looking amazing in terms of thermal and electrical design. I'm just gonna hold on until the 5090 cause if these tw cards are to go by, it'll get even cooler still. Very nicely done by nVidia here. Keep up the good work!

So I theorized that PULL on a heatsink was better. I figured the pressure after the heatsink would be lower causing the fan to spin faster which increases the force. I did not consider the actual temperature increase of the air. Though I did consider that there might be a heat pump effect where the air would cool down as it passed though the heatsink due to the pressure drop. Then after the heatsink it would cool until the fan hits the air and causes a shift from negative to positive pressure.

Here is a novel idea. Why don't video card manufacturers just use all the same screw heads on their cards. Also, why not use standard type fans that are easily bought and replaced without having to take the whole video card apart. Now that would be great. Same goes for laptops, why do I have to take the whole # %# thing apart to get to the CPU fan/heatsink. Would be really great if they cared about serviceability as much as they care about their industrial screw less design .

Its been mentioned multiple times by now but I had to add mine 2 cents for the algorithim. Ive seen multiple vids on the 40XX series, but the fact that GN has an Nvidia engineer and product manager on their segment is a testamount to the respect vendors show to GN. Steve and the team always shows the anilinycal breakdowns without bias which has garnered respect from not only the viewers but the companies in which they review.

Sorry to rain on this parade but please, ffs, go look at a pcie5 power supply. When you have to call in the engineers to say something is ok, it's probably not ok. Please don't think that they tested every possible problem with the pigtail cables. New gen PSUs on NEWEGG have a dedicated 12vhpwr connector, one cable from psu to gpu. the pigtail is a mess and is dangerous. sure it CAN work, but it is far riskier than using a single NON SPLICED cable.

Respect! The quality of Nvidia product here and your work matching it. This is like watching established craftsmen, artisans honing some handmade sword or shaping piece of glass. It's mesmerizing. Men being in the right place and making best of it.
There have been countless well researched and presented topics over the year. Fun, on spot, highly relevant. Still this is premium. Due to all and everything involved.

Having not yet watched the video, so I know in no way how it turns out, I just want to say that I always appreciate it when a company, no mater how big, does go 'out there' and talk about their product.
Just seeing someone from NVIDIA just talk (and explain) about their product goes a long way for me to forgive the 4070 is a 4080 nonsense, even though these two teams probably not even deal with the same things.

450 watts is a no-go for me.
This is the first time EVER in gpu market, where I am turned off by the product, so much so...that I wouldn't even pay 1000 for that gpu, unless I plan to set powerlimit at like 70 or 60 percent, and at that point I might as well buy 4070.
AMD cpus are the furnace this time around too, and I wonder how 13900k will do in terms of heat and cooling.

17:14 I would actually lean towards NVIDIA's thinking here. Almost nobody ever needs to, or has the skill to, take apart their graphics card that far. So even though this is a bit harder and would increase a repair bill because of employee cost per minute, if you counter that to using screws that you would see every time you look at the PC... I take the screw-less version.

It's taken 10 years but finally someone figured out that using the biggest fan that fits the GPU offers the best cooling for the lowest noise. GPU coolers were so stacked with chumps glad to see Nvidia has the single smartest person in the thermals world. This comment is not ironic or sarcastic its truly astounding nobody used the biggest fan they could before.

I m glad people are surprised to like the engineers. This is a perfect example that the engineers and devs are often not the problem in a company. I remember people badmouthing cdpr cp2077 and their devs, when you can obviously see the devs put a lot of love and effort in it. All they want to deliver work they can be proud of. Most of them, for sure.

Hey if you want I can test that reassembled card. Just send it my way and I'll bear the weight of volunteering my time to test the effects of reassembly upon performance. I know, it's a big sacrifice but it's one I'm willing to make. I'll even force myself to play those Tomb Raider games you reviewers love so much if needs be.
