Hey DT, a few suggestions:
1) Use ctrl+(a number 1-9) to bind a group of units, a building or a group of buildings (for example your two barracks) - so you can quickly select them without using your mouse
2) Build 5-6 sentry towers around your city hall in phase 1 - you can easily upgrade them when time comes and when upgraded they count as a phase 2 buildings. Try to keep all your buildings inside your circle of towers.
Towers are also good because when attacked they attract your enemy attention first, so you have time to regroup and counter attack.
3) It's wise to crop fields around your city hall and your houses around your fields - when attacked they are great hiding place for women
4) Connect two markets and/or docks with mechants/merchant boats, so they give you constant flow of resources so you will never run out of any of the resources.
5) Great learning experience is playing with maximum hard opponents on a tiny map with limited resources. Try that out - not that hard as it sounds.

Lols.. just finished this map last week myself. Key strategy was the dock..not only can you build ships, but it is a drop-off point for resources. Also, you see that the enemy is going to come over the marsh, so if you place your temple there, then whatever soldiers fight there will receive healing while in battle. Also that would be the first place to position towers, as you know that they are coming that way. I often buffer my town with a line of houses that will slow the enemy down when they come to attack my town.

Hey, DT! Do you hear about -eye strain- problem on linux? What do you think? Cant switch to linux for years because of this, only inside VM, so it's not because of fonts/hinting/color theme/different user interface. Recently I'm switched to a good 4k monitor and happy with it, with incredible clear text... but it changed nothing on linux! (changing gpu is not option for now because of crazy prices with unclear result, becase many peoples reports same thing on nvidia/intel/amd)
