This looks VERY complicated to bother with!! :( :( Isn't there a simple search function in Excel (2019 for mac) where you type in a search box your search letters/words) and the sheet narrows down the columns that contain your search query? So as you type in more letters in this search box, the resulting columns get less and less in your sheet? You now, simple, user friendly, stuff! ;)

Super video Mynda! I like your Pivot Table with this special useful. Great graphic and the table with (Gross Profit, MAX, MIN, AVERAGE) that's in a superior level of the pivot table. I see a limitation in the not being able to use Slicers, but anyway I am fascinated by your creation. It is an excellent practical application of the Filter field in Pivot Tables. Thank you very much.

What if you need to have a dynamic, searchable drop down list from another workbook?
Use case: Lets say I have a list of all my products and want to write an invoice, and you have about 2000 products. How would you make a searchable drop down list that changes as you add or modify products? The data validation list is in another workbook.

Mynda, this is awesome. Can't tell you how long I tried data validation filters, combo boxes, etc. and this is so much easier.
Is there any way to fix the width of the dropdown box? My data strings are long. I noticed you had to drag the corner of the box to make it wider. Thanks

Mynda, you can't imagine, how long I was looking for exactly this function. So easy as useful. Formatted PivotTables seem to be a powerful hidden function to get more out of Excel. I really appreciate your videos. Big thumbs up smashed.

The shortcoming of using Pivot table is that if your data is updated, you have to refresh the pivot table first before doing the search. If you use formulas, no refreshing is needed.

Where is the facepalm emoji when we need it! This is something so simple that most of us have completely overlooked it until now. Thanks for setting us straight!

Gosh that's brilliant! I'd never have thought of using pivot tables (of which I'm not particularly a fan) in that way! Many thanks - it's given me some ideas --
