-. Nord is open to torrenting. -
It is my understanding that torrent data always contains the IP address of the client -- that it does this by design, in order to function. And by client, I do not mean Nord's server that acts as a client to reach the next hops. I mean the IP address of the actual person that is initiating the torrent data transfer is seen by all parties that receive the torrent request.
If I am correct, then why the heck would a VPN service allow this?
Is it because Nord is counting of people not knowing that they are 100% revealing themselves, because Nord wants the business, and could not care less about its customers?
Tor warns against torrenting -- and not only because of bandwidth issues -- but because you reveal your IP address.
Lastly, what is the point of using any VPN (and paying to use the VPN, when you can use the Tor network for free?
Other than the VPN being faster, what is the point?
Why should anyone put their -I trust you with 100% of my on-line activity- eggs all into a VPN's basket?
All of the claims made by a VPN service are just that -- -claims-. They can be keeping logs, no matter what they claim.
Do you know the system administrators at Nord?
Do you know the executives at Nord?
Do you know anyone at Nord?
They are complete strangers. Why would trust them?
With Tor, there is no -private key- to be stolen by criminals.
With Tor, there is no one to trust.
Tor is open-source, and monitored and vetted and scrutinized by anyone that knows how to read source code -- and that is a lot of people, globally. There is no hidden BS with Tor.
So what is the attraction to VPNs? Is it the uninformed public that knows little or nothing about Tor?
Cheers!

Nord is good but not every time. 3 times Nordvpn compromised my security. When they want to sell their Nordpass for passwords, they stop your password from working, so you have to contact them The problem with this is I can't work when this happens. I boot up, ready to work, then can't login to Nord. Then the very lengthy process starts to get your password to work (3 days the first time. If you try a new password, it doesn't work. Then you talk to the techs. After 3 times of this I realized what they are doing. All the techs give the same answers. On the third time, I had previous e-mails from their top guys, so I only had to spend a half a day without security. This exposes my business and my clients to competitors and worse. If you need a vpn that has to work every time, Nordvpn is not for you. I have a subscription for another year but will not renew after that. I loss business because of NORD. This is a third world practice in a modern, tech world.

I have Nord. Yes they SHOULD have a GUI on Linux, but it is manageable. However, the Android app seems to have lost functionality. At one time it was possible to choose the server and set favourites. Certainly on my Android devices this is no longer possible and this means when some servers don't work it is a pain trying to get one that does (disconnect/reconnect the only option) - favourites back please! Also, except on my tablet, Nord doesn't work for BBC iPlayer. Now, this is VERY annoying because I DO pay my licence fee to the BBC. Whatever stops the BBC from letting me view it, wherever I am in the world, when I have paid for it, is WRONG and needs to be sorted - but then Nord VPN should work and it doesn't! Their Smart DNS doesn't work on the BBC either. Happy customer? - not really

Speaking as a Nord customer for two years, I can say the following with confidence:
- Server performance is hit-and-miss, and generally not excellent
- Servers disappear with frequency
- Netflix and Prime access is dicey and unreliable
- SOCKS5 proxy support is becoming scarce
- They lied about their country of operation
- They advertise on piracy sites and have no issue affiliating with neo-Nazi influencers
- They won't disclose security breaches unless a publication forces their hand

After waiting some 2 years for this review, I am not gonna lie, I am very disappointed how well you scored it esp considering the amount of stuff you forgot. And no, this isn't just I should -re-score it- with my own personal system. You made this system for reviews, and the fact you can rate this VPN so highly within it, means your system is VERY flawed.
NordVPN is a meme at this point, and the fact you rated it this high, you should be ashamed tbh.

For the X/5 score you should calculate that score as a percent of the highest score in that category of the VPN-s you-ve reviewed.
For example, Nord gets 3. 3/5 on Privacy and iVPN gets 4. 7 on Privacy. Relative to iVPN-s 4. 7 (the highest Privacy score of reviewed VPNs, Nord is in the 70th percentile (3. 3/4. 7=0. 70. This calculation easily puts scores into perspective.

I may be wrong but another problem with Nord (and maybe others) is that the only way to not auto renew is to remember to cancel the subscription. It does not appear that you can turn off auto renewal and let it expire. This is totally unacceptable. They also hide in very small print the renewal cost which is at least double the sign up cost.

Linux support is the main reason I left Nord behind me. I had issues with LAN access when connected and couldn't see if I was connected to the VPN or not. It also didn't always autoconnect on boot. Companies need to take Linux more serious.

I've had a terrible experience with Nords connection stability. The speeds are fine, but I am constantly finding myself clicking the quick connect button because I suddenly -don't have internet-.

Nice that they've cleaned up their act with security and privacy but after the mistakes and scandals I can never trust them. Thanks for the update, bruh. #BlueLeaksMatter
