I think that cost of living has a lot to do with the open source vs proprietary debate. With a high cost of living (I'm talking basic needs) there is a conflict between intellectual gain and financial gain. Intellectual gain is closely tied to meaning and this becomes the lion's share of the reward, but only if the economic system is arranged to give a true individualistic freedom. The individual in our present system is marginalized thru high food, energy and housing costs and so needs a higher percentage of their income to go towards these costs. It's possible to establish an individual/family living arrangement by having separate housing, within a small, economically powerful group, simply by removing the profit motive. This allows more autonomy and free time for the individual which is the key to making open source work. It needs to be tied to the land since this is the source of energy, food etc which allows us to step outside of the system tied to financial gain thru high living costs.

Its sad that you think free software has zero cost to build and maintain. Software is not get build automatically. people/company who build those stuff invest serious amount of time money to learn those technologies and do great amount of research to do things. I think you have a problem that you can't even understand very basic things. Nothing is free man. everything has a some sort of cost.

Can you do a video sharing your thoughts on Purism laptops, smartphones and OS?
I'm on macOS and plan to setup Linux on virtual machine soon. If I like it I will likely switch to Linux entirely. Only recently bumped into Purism. It seems to answer my concerns with privacy and security. I wonder what your thoughts are. Thanks

In my entire life, i bought about 15 licenses for WINDOWS ( win 95, win 2000, win XP, win 7, win 10, and will have to buy it again with my next laptop: this is totaly unfair! And the only time i called MICROSOFT for activation, i was treated as a MONGOLOID by the employee on the phone ( far from wellcoming & respectfull.

My favorite part is the AI one, I hope them nothing but the best, if I have a work pretty sure I will support them, I hope the free model is pretty big (like with davinci resolve that has a lot of cool features for free users) and it expands the experience for pay users

NSA didn't compromise TOR, they created it, and they own about half of all exit nodes. It's primarily for their own use, while the ability to catch others with it is just an added benefit.
