I was very skeptical of this video. I personally don't believe in crypto at all and was also suspicious of Douglas when he mentioned that he was Republican (I only have experience with US politics in topics of the -culture wars- where I believe all vocal Republicans to have just the worst opinions.
But this was very enlightening. Douglas presented his positions well and I probably share most if not all of his opinions and goals as expressed here. And I was surprised about the claims on Monero. I'll definitely give it a second chance after dismissing it as -just another crypto scam-.
Thank you for giving me a new perspective and making me reconsider my opinions!

The main flaws in monero weren't even addressed. so this video is basically part of a pump and dump. The whole idea of making tx more private because of KYC is ridiculous. People shoot themselves in the foot with KYC. The solution to that isn't monero, because those same people will install a gov app that records their screen at all time, and then the monero privacy will be lost as well. The solution to KYC is to stop using KYC and use BISQ instead. Also CoinJoin wasn't even mentioned in this convo, which makes this whole thing a really low grade talk. Too bad.

I don't know, he came off as if he was trying to curate himself to be palatable to the audience. iOS alright, you don't have to give much thought about Security, so you delegate most of it, understandable. But the hesitation about saying Signal followed by choosing Tor as a favorite browser? Tor is a great project and the right tool for the job, but from a usability standpoint is really a harsh tool, and you have to know what switch to turn, so saying iOS first then Tor later sounds dissonant.

Great video! Thanks a lot, I've personally invested in Monero and am very proud of my purchase. Off topic - I'm thinking of degoogling my pixel 3a, which is do you recommend - graphene, calyx or something else? Apart from degoogling my phone I would like to use it as a -detox phone-. Could you give me your suggestion keeping that in mind? Thank you so much for all the work you do!

What-s the reality in terms of -banning- Monero? Obviously USA could proclaim any transactions in Monero to be unlawful. If that was declared, is the Monero technology/ecosystem good enough that such a ban would be largely ineffective. He mentioned getting into politics to try and prevent a ban- which implies that government could indeed use law to beat code.

Hey someone talked about researching and trading without professional guide. huh I laugh you, because you will remain where you are or even make huge losses that will stop you from trading, this has been one of the biggest problems to new traders.

Very nice to see someone in the system calling out the frustration of trying to move towards a way for the people vs a way for the wealthy. He seems to be very genuine with his words. Very rare indeed. Thanks Techlore!

what about actual competition like pivx, piratechain, dero, scrt and especially zk-technology instead of ring signatures? love monero but that comparison is clearly missing.

As someone who doesn't really get the math behind xmr: what needs to happen for transactions to not take 15 minutes? Will we get there eventually?
